Hello!
By the Tide is one of my favorite stamp sets and I use it for so many of my scrapbook pages. However, we have had a crisis in our family this week and I am 800 miles away. There really isn’t much I can do but offer words of comfort (I hope!) so I went into my craft room and made a card. This card is going to my brother-in-law who loves the beach.
I will be entering this card into the Paper Players Color Challenge #167 this week: using Midnight Muse, Pool Party and Whisper White. These colors are perfect for a masculine card! I wanted to make an easel card because they always make a special presentation. The card base is Pool Party, cut at 10″x 5″ and scored at 5″ and 7.5″. You then make the card base (5″ x 5″) that will be decorated. I stamped the three images then used the smallest square framelit to cut them out. I used the next smallest for the midnight muse but thought it needed more color so I used my retired 1 1/4″ square punch for the Pool Party layer, which added just the right amount of color. I versamarked the shell stamp and heat embossed in Pool Party. The Midnight Muse ribbon wrapped around the Pool Party base was a really pretty touch that doesn’t distract your eye but adds just the right amount of interest to the card front.
Tip of the Day: The trick to keeping an easel card propped up is having a layer on the bottom piece that will allow the card front to stay put. I versamarked and heat embossed the adorable little Sandpiper stamp from Wetlands, layered it then added dimensionals. The Pool Party buttons look like sea glass to me so they just had to be used as well!

Well, I’m so sorry to hear of your ‘crisis’. I have had so much heart ache over the last 12 years with my parents that I was so overwhelmed with grief and sadness and the ‘helpless’ feeling that it make me physically sick. I stood in hospital rooms looking out windows on a daily basis and prayed a lot. I am so glad that I found SU and all the wonderful paper crafting bloggers out there in the virtual world. Paper crafting takes my mind away for hours and hours. I would even take a couple totes with me full of paper and some punch’s and punched for hours and hours on end. People thought I was crazy; but, it kept me sane. So, busy hands, busy mind.
Your card is beautiful and know that it will be much appreciated. BIG Blessings to you and yours!
What a very special card, Debbie. I know that he will appreciate your thoughts and well wishes! Beautiful embossing!
Blessings to you and your family.
What a lovely way to use these colors…they definitely evoke a beachy feel! Thanks for playing with our colors this week! And I hope your crisis subsides quickly!
Debbie you card is beautiful. I am sure your brother will greatly appreciate it. It’s so tough dealing with family issues when you are so far away, I hope it passes quickly.
Thank you for joining the Paper Players this wee
