Around the World with the PPA

Around the World You may not know that I started papercrafting with scrapbooking. How I love keeping wonderful memories alive through telling the stories that the photos we took began. When I saw the sketch challenge for this week’s Pals Paper Arts,PPA I wanted to use the stamp set, Around the World, to tell the story of the most wonderful trip that my husband and I took to Turkey. We were there for 9 days with an interfaith group from Grand Rapids. We got to know each other very well and in a way you really can’t just meeting for a couple of hours. We arrived in Istanbul, then traveled to Konya and ended our tour in the city of Izmir by the sea. We saw many religious sites from all different faiths as well as some unlikely places, like elementary and high schools, hospitals, and newspaper offices. It is a beautiful country and one that I really hope to return to some day. This scrapbook page started with the DSP, I Am Me, choosing the paper of the globe as the backdrop. After deciding the two photos I wanted to use, the next color was chosen for me! Old Olive just had to be the color due to all of the green in the natural photo. In scrapbooking I always try to pull colors from the photos themselves, which really helps enhance the photo. I stamped out the title and used the stripes embossing folder to give it some texture. I really love the new On Film Framelits (which coordinates with the Peachy Keen stamp set)! I versamarked the large framelit to make the markings on the paper more pronounced and it looks great! I used the negative piece of the small framelit to stamp the date. Old Olive ribbon was used on the title for some visual interest.
