This is the kind of card that I don’t make very often but always enjoy. Sweet Sorbet designer paper has some wonderful patterns that lends itself to whatever card style you have. This card is for a man who is having a significant birthday but still young enough to enjoy a little jab, luckily!
I started by picking out this DSP, which I think is festive but not feminine. I decided to try my chevron punch for the first time – I love how it turned out and will definitely use it again soon. It really lends itself to masculine as well as kids’ cards (aren’t they the same anyway?). I punched it in one direction then decided to punch it going the opposite direction. Doesn’t that look great? I put a small strip of Pool Party cardstock underneath the DSP before mounting the DSP on dimensionals for a little shadow interest.
Then, what do I do with the other side, I wondered? I had just used my owl punch on another card so it was out on my craft table and this got me thinking! And, didn’t he turn out cute? My only problem was that I didn’t have any Tombow glue so I improvised by using candy dots for his eyes. He is looking out of a hole made from the Starburst framelit. The sentiment from Just Sayin’ is perfect for this card and easily trimmed. (BUNDLE & SAVE 15%: Wood #134819/Clear #134820) There are framelits that go with this stamp set and made it so easy! After that, I just added a button and linen thread to complete this card.
