In Color Ribbons as a Focal Point

Christmas Collectibles, Flower Frenzy Bigz L

Today marks the end of two phases in my life – Ramadan will be coming to an end either today or tomorrow (we have to look for the new moon tonight to be sure) and my monthly Creative Crew challenges. So, I am posting my last holiday card that I made for the Catalog Focus on “ribbons, twine, thread, etc.” Since I absolutely love the new in-color ribbons, I decided to use them for this vibrant holiday card, using the Apothecary Accents framelits and the Flower Frenzy Bigz die. This card uses a fun technique of laying down ribbon onto cardstock then cutting out a shape to lay over them. You can use any shape you desire but these shapes just spoke to me as being suitable for Ramadan. The ornament stamp and punch represent a “fanous” – Arabic for “light” or “lantern.” The new gold baker’s twine was used around the fanous by pulling out just the gold thread and tying it in a bow.

It’s All in the Details

  1. Happy Eid Mubarak! I have Muslim friends in Singapore celebrating early. Lovely card! How did you make the greeting?

  2. Thank you, Jessica! To answer your question, the greeting is a personalized name stamp (found on page 195 in the Annual Catalog). It is a great way to stamp something that you aren’t able to find in the catalog!

  3. Eid Mubarak, Sis! This card is amazing. I really thought you punched it out in felt. The card has a soft look that could easily be placed in a frame. Gorgeous. Hope you had wonderful celebration today with your family and friends!

  4. A lovely celebratory card with very obvious symbols for you. Thank you for including and teaching us in your journey. New paths to find and old paths to appreciate! Love you!
