Your Perfect Day with Retro Rubber

Your Perfect Day, Artisan Embellishment Kit, Something BorrowedIt’s time for more wonderful inspiration from the Retro Rubber Design Team! Our challenge is starting its second week to use Embossing Powder in your card project. How fun is THAT! I decided to play along again but this time with a brand new stamp set because it is fun to play with them, too! I am also submitting this card to Mojo Monday. I really love this challenge blog and haven’t play with them in a little while. Their sketch was the perfect inspiration for my card!RRBC10

My sentiment was embossed with VersaMark and Blackberry ink with Clear Embossing Powder then the pretty wreath was embossed the same way with Sahara Sand. The bow was made from a lovely velvet ribbon in the Occasions Artisan Embellishment Kit. I have been waiting for just the right card to use it and decided that this card needed that elegant touch.

IT’S ALL IN THE DETAILS

  • Stamp Sets: Your Perfect Day
  • Paper: Something Borrowed DSP, Crumb Cake, Blackberry Bliss, Whisper White
  • Ink: VersaMark, Blackberry Bliss, Sahara Sand
  • SU Tools: 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch, 2 1/2″ Circle Punch,
  • Finishing Touch: In Color Accessory Pack (SAB), Pearl Basic Jewels, Gold Metal Buttons, Clear Embossing Powder

I hope you’ll stop by and check out the rest of the Design Team inspiration over at Retro Rubber Challenge Blog.  We would love for you to join us before the challenge closes on Friday, March 27th.

  1. Hi Debbie!
I love the design of this card…especially using the scallop punch around the wreath image! Your work is always so detailed!!!!
I do have a question. You mentioned that you embossed by using VersaMark and Blackberry ink with Clear Embossing Powder. Do you stamp the image in the Versamark and then directly into your colored pad before stamping on the paper? Or do you do this in steps?
    Thanks! Barbara

    • Thank you for your kind comments! To answer your question, I do it all in one step – first versa mark then ink, stamp then apply clear emboss powder. It’s a great way to have embossing in every ink color!

  2. I love the combination of DSP designs that you chose. And adding Blackberry Bliss as the pop color is something I’m going to try! Lots of textures, both flat (is that possible? Lol) and 3D. This is a beautiful card, Debbie.

  3. Thank you Debbie for answering my question. I can’t wait to try it!
Does it affect your color stamp pad at all?
    Barbara

  4. Debbie…wonderful card. Love the details – simple but elegant.
I love using the versamark, ink, emboss technique. As you said, all colours with one clear embossing powder.

  5. Thanks, Terry! It’s all in the details!

  6. Debbie, This is a great card. I am so glad you answered Barbara’s question. I would be afraid to ruin my inks also. The card is so beautiful. You always have such great cards. Have a great day, Ellen Hinds

    • Ellen, thank you for your kind comments, all of them!! I do need to add that this technique of one-step versa mark embossing works with the foam pads. If you still have the old ink pads, you should do it in two steps with the stampamajig.

  7. Beautiful & elegant card. Love the neutral colors with the pop of color of the velvet ribbon. Thanks for the tip for embossing. As always you create & inspire me to share wonderful handmade cards. Keep crafting!

  8. Gorgeous, stunning and already pinned!! Good job on an elegant detailed card for two! Now I have to buy that stamp set, LOL….

  9. Lovely card, Debbie. I like the simplicity yet elegance. Thanks for sharing the embossing technique. I have actually had success just stamping the color and then the embossing powder…you have to be quick tho’ 🙂

  10. Hey Debbie, I smiled at your comment, I promise to use the stamp again. I love your second take on the challenge, it’s really beautiful. Cx
