Hello, Stampers! Well, I knew this day would come, but somehow I still don’t feel ready for it. Today, my last child, Sarah, is finished with high school. She has done so well and has plans to attend University of Michigan. It’s a great school and only a couple of hours away plus her brother is going there as well. The big decisions are made now so we are just going to enjoy the very short summer that we have with her before she goes.
Sarah has a couple of very close friends and I am making them cards and gifts. I will be sharing them soon! The card above is for a graduating senior that I never met but my husband, a physician specializing in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, treated him for a rare cancer 15 years ago in Ohio. Imagine how happy it made him feel to get a wonderful graduation announcement from this now-grown patient, especially since we moved to Michigan almost 12 years ago! The Class of 2015 was the perfect stamp for graduations this year and with my daughter graduating, it was one of the first items on my list. I also used the Irresistibly Yours DSP from the Occasions Catalog and, using my brayer, inked it with Night of Navy, since the high school colors are Navy and White. I inked up the stamp then cut it out using the retiring On Film Framelits. The sentiment is from Celebrate Today. I really like how it looks on the framelit!
I am submitting this card to a challenge blog that I just found called Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. I happened to come across it while I was making this card so I am very excited to be submitting it to them.
If you have been considering ways to craft on leisurely days (maybe the weather isn’t cooperating) or a fun project to take with you on vacation or even gifts for the crafters in your life, this is a great time to give it a try!

Congrats to your Daughter. I too went to went to the University of Michigan, many many years ago.
How very special to have received a graduation announcement from a pediatric patient from so many years ago. His family was blessed by their encounter with your husband who has successfully treated so many pediatric oncology patients. Give that man a hug from his sister-in-law. As for Sarah, hopefully she has received my love in the mail by now. Her graduation card will be posted on my blog on Sunday. 🙂
Congratulations, Debbie–so happy for you and your family.
This card is SO CUTE! Thanks for playing with us this week at SSINKspiration!!
Thank you, Katy! And, yes, she did receive your graduation card which was STUNNING! I love how you used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set, which is her absolute favorite! And using the treat bag framelit to hold her gift was brilliant!! Thanks, “Aunt” Katy!!
Love your take on the sketch — and thank you for playing with SSINK! ~Laura

Wow! Debbie – I thought this card was STRIKING! And then I read your blog! How sad for you to see the last child leave the nest! But the best thing about this post – the young patient who is now graduating! Can anything really be better than that!
