Thankful Forest Friends

Thankful Forest Friends, Into the Woods

Hello, Stampers! I hope you all are enjoying the beginning of September. September is always my favorite month of the year. It’s usually a month of wonderful summer temperatures but not so dry. It’s already hot and humid with yesterday being the third warmest day all year! Regardless of the temperature, September is still back to school month so no matter how you slice it, Fall is in the air, right? When I saw the color challenge over at Pals Paper Arts, I saw the chance to play with another great Holiday Catalog stamp set, Thankful Forest Friends. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am a HUGE animal lover so this stamp set was a “must have.”

This card started by choosing the DSP from Into the Woods – it’s so pretty! I cut the DSP and Delightful Dijon cardstock with the Lots of Labels framelits. The sentiment was stamped using the “tissue” technique. You use a tissue for each of the colors you want to use by wadding it into a ball, dipping it into the first ink which should be the lightest and cover the entire stamp. Continue with the other colors, covering only random spots till you are satisfied. “Huff” on the stamp if you think the inks could be a little dry.

I actually popped the DSP up and laid the sentiment down into the recessed area – just for a little ppachange. I stamped a couple of the cute bears and a fox and fussy cut them out. The banner was added after playing with a bow and not loving it. The final touch was a little bow made from linen thread.

  1. This card is so adorable! Lots of work with those fussy cut critters, but so worth the effort. I especially love the fox and where you put him on this fall card, he steals the show! Your sentiment came out so nicely blended, too. Adorbs, adorbs, adorbs!

  2. I spied a change in this card, Debbie, and I really do like it better… you always seem to know what will work the best. Just love the banner and the addition of the leaves on the backside of the wooden elements. Great job with the PPA color challenge! Now to pin it….

  3. Absolutely perfect! Love the colors, your snipping, and it looks like you used an embossing folder on the Dijon frame? Did you make a skinny frame so the sentiment would lay inside of it?

  4. This is such a cute card, Debbie. I love all the critters framing the sentiment. Speaking of which, I could see this used as a picture frame too. Thanks for sharing with the Pals.

  5. Debbie, this little critters are so adorable and I just love how you arranged them around this beautiful and colorful sentiment, stamped in some of my absolute favorite shades for Autumn.
The banner with those beautiful wood embellishments is the perfect finishing touch.
    Lovely Fall card.
    Thank you for sharing.
    Maria Rodriguez.
