Helping Me Grow for a Springtime Card

Helping Me Grow, Rose Garden Thinlits

Hello, Stampers! I hope you all are enjoying your day! We are having a sneak peek – of Spring! I can’t believe that we were at 60 degrees just two days ago! This card was inspired by that beautiful weather, and it was so much fun inking up Helping Me Grow for the first time. This card actually started out using the flip side of that DSP, which was in Calypso Coral (definitely one of my favorites). Somehow, I was inspired to flip the paper over and I saw how the flowers just stole the show, so I just kept it that way. Black, yellow and white are a fantastic combination for any floral card. I will have to remember that and do it more often!

It’s All in the Details

  • This card has A2 dimensions, using Whisper White Thick cardstock. Basic Black cardstock was layered under Wildflower Fields DSP. This DSP is absolutely gorgeous and FREE with a qualifying order during Sale-A-Bration!
  • Another layer of Basic Black cardstock was run through the Big Shot in the Elegant Dots TIEF. I have tried at least six photos – during the day, at night, standing up, laying down – and nothing seems to show the wonderful texture of this embossing folder. You will just have to believe me that it’s so pretty! LOL
  • The flower stamp from Helping Me Grow (item #141022 in the Occasions Catalog) was stamped in Memento Black Ink and colored with the discontinued Blendabilities alcohol pens (still LOVE them). I stamped and colored the main flower again, fussy cut it out and popped it up on dimensionals. The Curvy Corner Trip Punch was then used to cut the top corners.
  • The sentiment stamps were inked in black and then cut, using the framelit in the Rose Garden Thinlits. A second one was cut in black. Daffodil Satin Ribbon and Black 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon were layered and adhered, then the sentiment was popped up on top.
  • The Finishing Touches were Clear Wink of Stella on the flower centers and black Candy Dots (in the Neutrals pack).Challenge 4

I missed out on the third Tic Tac Toe Challenge due to being sick. I don’t want to miss out on another one so this card will be submitted. I used the third vertical column: all things round, stacked sentiment and plants. I hope the cute little polka dots, the elegant dots TIEF and even the candy dots work for “all things round.”

  1. Love this card! Black, white and yellow really do make a wonderful trio, and this card is the perfect example! And you are right, no matter how I enlarge the photo, I can’t see the texture on the black. Guess I’ll just have to CASE this card and see for myself!
    Thanks for the inspiration, Debbie!

  2. Beautiful card, Debbie! I am so glad you flipped the DSP because there could not have been a better match to your card details. Love the layers and textures (even the one I have to imagine, LOL). Cindy said it best…. Will have to CASE just to see how pretty it really is. I was so involved in reading the details, that now I can say, off to pin!

  3. Beautiful card Debbie. I’m in love with this color combo. My mom’s favorite color is yellow so I must remember it for her birthday in April. Thanks for reminding me of the tic tac toe challenge. It’s my favorite type of challenge and I made just the right card just last night to enter using sequins, a stencil, and distress inks.

  4. I really like this card. I was debating on getting the Help Me Grow stamp set, (thinking I probably would), but now I KNOW I will. I like it a lot!

  5. This card is so very pretty. I love the colors you used. I made a very similar card just yesterday with this set, but I used Melon Mambo for the flower, Now I am going to CASE your colors next. Thank you for your inspiration.

  6. First, I am glad that you are feeling better. Stinks to be sick!! Second, this card is lovely!! What pretty flowers and the way you used the layers is just beautiful. Really fabulous design. Thanks for playing with Stamping Smiles Designs Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge!
