It’s Winter Time at the Holiday Home

rrcb32Hello, Stampers! Is anyone else ready for Spring already? I am not complaining – really! We have had the mildest winter since we moved to Michigan 12 years ago. We are over 2 feet under the average snow fall for the season. So, like I said, I am not complaining. Holiday Home, the retired stamp set with coordinating framelits that was released in the Holiday Catalog in 2014, did come in handy for a winter-themed card though, because we had a close family friend just move into their new house and I thought a card with a house-warming gift would be a nice gesture.

Holiday Home, Bloomin' Marvelous

It’s All in the Details

  • This card started with my favorite color combination of Pool Party, as the card base, and Lost Lagoon.
  • All three houses from Holiday Home were stamped in Memento Black ink, then colored with the blender pen in Pool Party, Lost Lagoon, Old Olive and So Saffron ink (with some tiny areas done with the coordinating markers). Once they were completed, they were cut out with their coordinating framelits.
  • The sentiment from Bloomin’ Marvelous was stamped with Tip Top Taupe onto the Lost Lagoon cardstock, cut with a circle framelit (non-SU used here but any will work), run through the Big Shot with the Softly Falling TIEF, then the Chalk Marker was used to color the little snowflakes. The Lost Lagoon cardstock was layered on top of vellum paper from the Sheer Perfection Designer Vellum Stack.
  • The Finishing Touch was using the wooden snowflake elements.
  • The inside sentiment was perfect and found in Happy Notes stamp set.Holiday Home, Bloomin' Marvelous, Happy Notes

  1. Trust you to show me the value of this bundle set AFTER I have made the commitment to sell mine, LOL…. This is a fantastic house warming greeting!! I LOVE the colors you chose. Chalk marker, huh! I bet this is even more stunning in person. The wooden snowflakes are the perfect embellishment. I would say off to pin, but I did that first, LOL….

  2. Hi Debbie, I am laughing about us being enablers…you want the Fuse now and I want the house dies…LOL. Honest, I am not hiding anymore tools from you. I love your card..the chalk marker snow is a huge win and I’m stealing that little tip 🙂 cx

  3. Love your card. This is one of those stamp/die sets I’ll never get rid of, and now you’ve given me one more way to use it perfectly. The color combo is awesome, too.

  4. Debbie, your card is beautiful, I have that stamp set but not the dies, although it’s pretty easy to cut the images. I love, love how you created the snow by coloring each little snowflake, what patience!!! looks amazing.
The wooden snowflakes are just the best finishing touch, your old friend and new neighbor will love this card.

  5. What a lovely card! This is not a stamp set I have used much but I love what you have done right down to the cute surprise inside! Since you are purging – be glad you didn’t have my stamp set as you would have purged that too. Like I should be doing! PS – My favorite things for the mini scallop stitched dies. Papertrey Ink for the linen impression plate – be sure to get the embossing pads too because you will need them!

  6. Oh, I love this card! Every little part of it is eye candy- Holiday Home is still a favorite of mine, so glad you didn’t ditch yours in the sale! ( I’ll be trying PP with LL soon- I’m stuck on Mint Mac and LL and I can’t stop!) I love the vellum DSP, the adorably colored houses, the snow, the stitched circle. The Saffron house really pops! You really outdid yourself on this one. Lucky new homeowners!

  7. I am a total sucker for crafting with holiday homes! I love how you created this scene and the dimension rocks. It really appears that the two houses are set behind the other house! This is awesome!
