Itty Bitty Banners Can Make the Best Thoughts

Best Thoughts, Itty Bitty Banners, Stampin Up

Hello, Stampers! We enjoyed the fantastic cards you all submitted for the last challenge! Did you see them? Wow, I loved them!! Now, let’s see what you do with a sketch challenge that can really stretch your creativity! Did you know that you don’t need a blog to play along? You can also use a public gallery, such as Pinterest or Splitcoaststampers. So, dust off those super-cute older stamps that you have been holding onto and play along! For my card today, I was feeling nostalgic that Stampin’ Up! is retiring some wonderful In-Colors. One of those colors is Tangelo Twist, which I have not used nearly enough. When I want a color in that category, my stand-by is Calypso Coral, so I decided to give Tangelo Twist a try. Once I chose that color, I found a retired DSP from the Holiday Catalog that I really loved, Into the Woods. Then, my nostalgia took me to my Wall of Stamps and I immediately found a retiring stamp that hasn’t ever seen ink – and I really don’t know why! It’s beautiful, and available as Host Rewards, Best Thoughts. The sketch needed a simple sentiment and had to be older to fit the “retro” requirement so I chose a retired stamp that has seen ink multiple times before but the framelits that coordinate with them are now being retired, Itty Bitty Banners. This stamp set appears to have come out in 2012. Splitcoaststampers doesn’t list the catalog date, from what I could see. The Lovely Lace embossing folder was inked up in So Saffron then Whisper White cardstock was inserted and run through the Big Shot. I really love the effect!!

  1. Oh my goodness, Debbie, this is stunning! I think this is one of the most striking cards you’ve ever made! Makes me want that EF for sure….awesome technique and lovely colors. I didn’t use Tangelo very much either….so sad! I think I should remedy that some time this week! And thanks for having me as a GD!

  2. So pretty! I love all the retiring in colors and am glad you chose TT today! The sentiment is awesome- isn’t it amazing to find set that have never been inked up? LOL. And the way you used that fabulous ribbon……AHHHHHH. Is that butterfly in Best Thought, too? I don’t have it but its sure cute!
    Nice card for this challenge!

  3. Oh WOW!! Debbie, this card is indeed striking, I love that embossing folder inked up like that, I’ve haven’t tried this technique but I can clearly see, the results are beautiful.
I also didn’t use Tangelo Twist all that much, my to go ink pad and marker was always Pumpkin Pie, but Tangelo Twist looks so beautiful also, it’s a much darker shade but truly elegant too.
Love all the details on your card, you truly have an eye for design and combination of patterns, textures and paper I wish to own so badly.
    Hugs,
    Maria.

  4. So what does it say when I mention that the card was pinned before the comment was started? Love this bright gorgeous card! I have tried inking the inside of the emboss folder but never had as wonderful results as you! Guess I should try it again. TT may be retiring but I have already received an extra pack of the paper… it won’t be leaving my craft room anytime soon, LOL. Awesome card, Debbie!!

  5. I just can’t express how much I love this card Debbie, the details are AWESOME. Love love love the inking the folder technique, it never ever words well for me LOL..more practice needed. Like Katy’s card, I am swooning over your bow..Cx
