Happy Father’s Day! I hope you all are having a wonderful celebration for the special men in your life! I took some time to get a couple of cards made for my husband and father. Aly (DH), you may remember, loves the ocean so I pulled out a couple of retired stamp sets in my stash, By the Tide and By the Seashore. The sentiment is from the adorable Paper Pumpkin kit we got last month. I am not a pro at collage cards but attempted one for this card and I think it will do just fine. Instead of my favorite embellishment, ribbon, the Swirly Scribbles Thinlit seemed more masculine for my purposes. A little sponging on the edges with Sahara Sand and Mint Macaron and the card front was done!
I thought you might enjoy seeing the slightly unusual sentiment that was used on the inside of the card. The sentiment is from the brand new stamp set, Flourishing Phrases (a must have stamp set with lots of great sentiments, nature images AND coordinating thinlits to make it even better!). I chose the one that appears to go with “With Sympathy” but when I looked at it, it seems to go with many other occasions. Don’t be bashful to use your sentiments for other occasions!

This card is for my father, who lives in Atlanta. I am missing the big family brunch at the “club” to celebrate. My dad was an Air Force pilot for 20 years and still dreams about flying. When the SAB stamp set came out, I knew that I would be using this adorable set for him. Some retired products from my stash were used to make it, as well as Blossom Bunch Punch to attempt making the propeller.

Hello Debbie: WOW!! this are two gorgeous Father’s Day cards with totally opposite themes. Love how you combined the old with the new on your first card, beautiful collage, looks like an old post card, just awesome.
Your second card is equally as beautiful, I love that plane and how you used the Blossom Bunch Punch for the propeller, it looks like it’s spinning fast!!!
Thank you for sharing.
Hugs,
Maria Rodriguez.
Debbie, both of these cards are wonderful and I certainly had no problem in telling whose was whose, LOL! Lovely ocean collage theme and you are right about that sentiment being just as special with this card as with a sympathy card. And Dad will love that airplane! I agree with Maria… using the punched out vellum does make the propellers look like they are actually spinning… must remember that accent!! My other favorite detail is the DSP that make me think of mountains. Great cards for two great men. Now, off to pin!!!
Debbie…Beautiful cards. I LOVE both. Especially the use of the ‘blossom’ punch for the propeller!! I must say, you have a knack for masculine cards.
Thank you.
Both cards are fabulous! The ocean card is a fab collage card! I especially like the little Nantucket circles. And that airplane card …. Your dad is gonna love it!!! Happy Dads day to both!!!
