Lighthearted Leaves
Happy Thanksgiving, my friends! I hope you are having a blessed week with family and friends (whether you celebrate or not) and enjoying some fun times. My work is cut out for me this week but looking forward to having my youngins home, even if it’s just a day or two. I needed just one more Thanksgiving card to send out so I decided to use this super fun sketch for it. Lighthearted Leaves came out in the 2015 Holiday Mini Catalog and I hoped it would stick around but it retired with that catalog. Of course, you all know by now how much I love Autumn so I kept it in my stash.
This card was lots of fun to make! I hadn’t embossed in so long! This leaf stamp was begging to be colored in some beautiful Fall colors and the new DSP had some wonderful coordinating colors, don’t you think? All I did was heat emboss then colored with ink and a blending pen. After putting the layers behind the focal points of the sketch, I remembered that I had some leaves cut in copper foil in my desk pile – somewhere – LOL. I did find them though and love how they seemed to pull it all together just a little bit better. Adding some copper metallic thread was the finishing touch.

Debbie, your last Thanksgiving card is a gorgeous one, the colors and all the textures are just beautiful. Love how you distressed the embossed panel and those copper leaves give your card just the right amount of shine.
Beautiful job, my dear.
Hugs,
Maria.
Delightful card! I love the mix of colors and textures in this.
Thank you so much, Linda! It was a fun card to create. Happy Thanksgiving!!
Debbie, when I first saw your card, I thought the beautiful focal leaf was a Turkey!!! It’s normally Jane that has these visions LOL. Love your card, I love all the texture, I don’t emboss as often as I would like either. I am glad my card made you cackle, those Art Impressions stamps are awesome and we are off to celebrate Thanksgiving with friends who are adopting us for the day 🙂 Have a great Thanksgiving too. Cx
Debbie, you have saved the best for last! This card is STUNNING! Already pinned! I love the coloring of the maple leaf… so spectacular. Did this one go to Dad? 🙂 PS… my card came today… so very sweet of you! It was a day of thankfulness!
I had to LOL at Claire’s comment but she is right – at first glance I thought it was a turkey too. And then I just stared. So many details that aren’t noticed at first blush! I love the copper leaves – and your “turkey” is gorgeous! So much texture and the distress edges – love. Everything perfectly put together! Stunning!
Debbie, this is on of my favorite stamps from SU! You colored the leave just perfect. Love your color choices you used on your card.
Beautiful Fall card, so festive with those lovely colors. Your attention to detail is awesome.
Thank you for your comment, PJ! “It’s all in the details,” right? LOL
