When we started getting snow (finally), I knew it was time to show you some holiday 3-D decor items I made recently. The 6″ burlap canvases were bought at Michael’s a couple of years ago but stayed on my craft shelf unused. I had a great idea to learn how to do Mixed Media projects when Carrie Cudney from Stampin’ Up! did a video some years ago. I just couldn’t get started on them though. The fear of ruining the canvas and a total lack of imagination on what to do on them were very compelling reasons for me! LOL I finally decided to conquer the intimidation of using them by  just treating them like they were going to be cards. My first idea was to use the Snow Place stamp set and coordinating Snow Friends Framelits.

Snow Place Canvas

These projects are great for home decor but they are also cute for cards as well. Snow Place stamp set and the coordinating Snow Friends Thinlits are still for sale in the Annual Catalog. I used the Candy Cane Lane Specialty DSP for the background and fussy cut one of the little houses. The snow was cut and embossed with one of my favorite folders, Seaside. The sentiment was stamped in Early Espresso then cut with the Layering Ovals, along with the Early Espresso as the background layer. They were then adhered onto the 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon. After adhering it all together, Real Red cardstock was layered onto Whisper White, glued onto the canvas with Tombo glue. Once that dried, I adhered the snowmen scene onto the canvas.

Peace On Earth Canvas

The Peace on Earth canvas started by cutting out the edgelits and dry embossing them in the Seaside embossing folder. They were then adhered onto the very pretty DSP from the Halloween Night Specialty DSP. Don’t you just love it when you can use the themed designer papers for other purposes? It’s not just for Halloween! The sentiment is from the retired stamp set, Calm Christmas. The cool full moon is from Spooky Fun which is still available in the Holiday Catalog.

So, I have day and night winter scenery canvas decor now, which has found a place in my Family Room. Whatcha think?? If you guys like this idea, let me know because I can use the rest of my canvases (can you believe I even “stocked” up on these things? LOL) for all of the seasons.

  1. Better start using those extra canvas decor pieces for additional holidays, LOL… These make sweet home decor pieces… and I love that plant!! It is so happy!! But back to the cards… love that the burlap shows around each “card”… gives it a soft home feel! Glad you did not ask to pick a favorite… I could not have done so… one is happy and the other is peaceful. Both necessary for my persona… Now to pin….
