Tin of Tags Christmas Card
I did something a little impulsively last weekend. I took two 12×12 pieces of DSP and just started cutting them up, attempting one of the One Sheet Wonder ideas that I have seen from time to time. Now my craft table has bits and pieces that have no ideas to go with them. What was I thinking?? This card was created with one of them and I guess it doesn’t look terrible but I have learned a lesson! My creativity doesn’t start with a small piece of paper!! LOL I am not sure exactly how I start my cards now but I do know that paper choice is not my first step. Anyone with me??
I eventually went with the sentiment from Tin of Tags and stamped directly onto the DSP with VersaMark then heat embossed with black embossing powder. That made me think of the gorgeous Delicate Ornament Thinlits that were such a hit last year but have barely been used this season. Once I cut out the “delicate” ornament, I remembered that I had the background ornament cut already, which has literally been waiting patiently for me to use it from my stash since last season.
I will also point out that I used the Fancy Frost Specialty DSP and absolutely love it! I am so glad that I stocked up on it. Imagine being able to add texture without having to run it through the Big Shot. You can sponge it, too! I hope you get it before it’s all gone! You will really use every last piece of it.

Love your card–very pretty!
I was laughing reading your post because you are NOT the only one who’s done that (cut paper first and then wondered what the plan was, only to have bits of paper strewn about) LOL! But this card is gorgeous- I love the skinny red border with the bright green paper on white, each part just makes this card sing! And the holly dots look 3D on my screen, BTW. Thanks for sharing this card, Debbie, it inspires me to get in my craft room!
Thanks for your kind comment, Kate! Hope you are getting ready for some holiday crafting!!
Whew! I am so glad that I’m not the only one who’s done that! LOL I think I will stick with what works for me – after I do something with all of these scraps! LOL Have fun in your craft room!!
Too funny, Debbie… it has been awhile since I tried to cut up DSP for multiple cards. Thanks for reminding me why I don’t do that!! This card is beautful… one scrap saved for a showcase!! Try other pieces (same size) with a diagonal cut through it… I like that look as well (especially if the DSPs are compatible together). Off to pin…. 🙂
