Stampin’ Up! Christmas Blessings for Retro Rubber

Christmas Blessings, Holiday, Stampin Up

Hello, my friends!

Isn’t this a pretty inspiration photo? There was quite a bit that inspired me but I ultimately decided to use an older stamp set, Christmas Blessings, which was introduced in the 2012-13 Annual Catalog. I had bought it but it was never used it till I made this card. What a shame! However, that is the wonderful part of this challenge blog, though – getting your older stamps out and breathing new life in them. I love pairing my older stamps with new products and tools!

Christmas Blessings

When I looked at the inspiration photo I saw lots of white, with pretty texture in the background and a pop of color in the holly berries. So, my card started with stamping the pretty focal image in black then, using cherry cobbler ink and a blender pen, coloring all of the flower petals. Then it was cut out with the Layering Squares Framelits and layered onto Cherry Cobbler cardstock that was cut with the scallop framelit.

Now, the background whisper white cardstock was dry embossed with the Holly embossing folder and layered onto Always Artichoke. Before adhering that down, Silver Glitter Ribbon was cut and adhered, then the entire panel was placed on the card base.

Lastly, the sentiment was stamped in Always Artichoke and cropped with the Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits. I layered that onto a small scallop oval and then adhered it to the ribbon. For the final touch, a bow to the focal image was added and little sprigs of holly added from the Holly Berry Builder Punch  to both sides of the sentiment. Nice, eh?

Once everything was down, I felt like the focal stamp just needed a little sumthin-sumthin. I reached for my Wink of Stella and added some glitz to the flower petals. I like how it came out, don’t you?

  1. Hello Debbie: Well, I’m so glad you decided to ink up this beautiful stamp for the first time to create this gorgeous card. Love the texture of the embossed panel behind your beautiful image that just pops in that awesome Cherry Cobbler ink (my most absolute favorite shade of red from SU).
Lovely details of the bow and Holly on this gorgeous and elegant Christmas card.

  2. Gorgeous! Of course! The coloring on the flower is really fantastic! The texture in the background is wonderful – you really interpreted this image! But my favorite part – is how you did the sentiment with the holly accents! LOVE!

  3. Your focal image is exquisitely showcased- what a lovely stamp…..and with that tiny scalloped border to make it pop? Ahhhhhh. This card is a feast for the eyes and I want to touch that bow! LOL. Another beauty from your craft table, Debbie!

  4. A stunning card, Debbie! The white textured expanse is the perfect backdrop for your exquisite details. I love how you positioned the main focal point and added the bow as if it were holding the poinsettias. And I must get the punch out for the hollies… why oh why have I not done that!! Off to pin this gorgeous card!!

  5. Debbie, this card is gorgeous! I almost chose this image for my card as well since I have not had a chance to give this set the “love” it deserves 🙂 Your coloring is perfect and love all of the finishing touches that you added to this beauty! It has been an honor to Guest Design with you for this challenge- hugs and I hope you have a blessed Christmas, sweet friend!
