I am always looking for something fun to do with my papercrafts! With the “Wicked Fold” theme for this month’s blog hop, I started combing the internet and found this tutorial by Julie Davison. I really liked the fact that it has the shadow box that pops up automatically and is very easy to make. This feature makes it super flat for mailing! For this reason, I kept the layers and details pretty simple. This would be a great fun fold for your holiday cards!

It’s All in the Details

Diorama Pop-Up Card Base Instructions
  • Julie’s tutorial was easy to follow and gave two different sizes that you can use. I went with the larger size; 5 1/2″ x 12″ and scored at 4″, 7 1/2″, 8′, and 11 1/2″, using the Bundle of Love Specialty DSP. I used my bone folder on each of the fold lines so they all laid down flat in all directions and all positions.
  • Using the scallop circle framelit, I ran the card base through the Big Shot to create the window on the inside of the card. After that, I used Tear & Tape and covered the entire flap to make sure it was very secure.
The Fun Stuff!
  • Front: I first stamped the sentiment from Labels of Love in Always Artichoke, and cropped it with a small scallop circle framelit. Then, the leaf stamp from Painted Harvest was stamped twice in Always Artichoke, then inked and stamped off for two more images. Those leaf images were then punched out with the coordinating Leaf Punch. Using the scallop circle framelit, I cut Always Artichoke CS and then ran it through the Big Shot with the Pinewood Plank embossing folder. Then, I cut Gold Foil paper with the Banner Triple Punch and layered Gold Edge Ribbon on top.
  • Inside Left Panel: I stamped the sentiment in Blushing Bride, then ran the cardstock through the Big Shot with the Lots of Label Framelit. Then, the leaf and circle images were stamped in Always Artichoke and topped with a Gold Enamel Shape. Lastly, Gold Foil paper was cut to fit behind the sentiment. (TIP: Use a lay of wax paper between the framelit and foil paper to keep it looking like new!)
  • Inside Right Panel: The sentiment was stamped and cut with a scallop circle framelit, then layered onto Gold Foil paper that was cut with a circle framelit and then layered on top of the circle that came from cutting into the card base. These were adhered to the card base, being careful that they would show through the hole in the card base. Then, two leaves were cut with Always Artichoke, layered onto Very Vanilla Banner and topped with a Gold Enamel Shape.
