Sisterhood of Crafters has a new challenge starting today – “Flowers – as the focus” by our Sistah Darlene. I just managed to get this card done in time. Although the theme is right up my alley, I’ve had lots going on and continuing health issues. However, I just received my first order from the new Annual Catalog and the Art In Bloom bundle just begged to get inked up. If you have seen this bundle yet, you really need to check it out, since it has not only dies but also an embossing folder! Consequently, you can emboss and cut out the flowers – at the same time! So, you understand why I just had to carve out a little bit of time in my craft room to play.
Also, I hope you will check out the Retired Products Sale I have going right now. I need to downsize my craft room! The list is a “work in progress” so check back often and you can find the list on the menu above or click HERE. Once you finish here, I hope you visit our Sisterhood of Crafters Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!
My secrets to making this Quiet Meadow project
- Firstly, to make the card base, I used Petal Pink cardstock, cut at 5 1/2″ x 11″ and scored at 5 1/2.”
- After that, I cut the beautiful You’re A Peach designer paper and layered it onto Old Olive cardstock.
Now, the FUN Part!
- Firstly, this new bundle is a “Must-Have” in your craft room. These flowers were just too easy to make, then the texture on the flowers just makes me so happy! All I had to do was stamp the trio of flowers (they are on one stamp, which makes it easy), then I colored them with Stampin’ Blends. However, if you don’t want to color, you can use the stamp that’s part of the set to apply ink them, as well.
- Once I had the flowers the way I liked them, I placed the cardstock inside the embossing folder after placing the die (cutting side towards the paper). I could feel the die “lock” into the correct position and because the embossing folder is see-through it was easy to line them all up – EASY!
- After that, once I had the flowers done, I stamped the leaves and cut them out with their coordinating dies.
- Then, I pulled out another brand new Artistically Inked stamp set and used the sentiment “hello” in Old Olive ink and cut it out with the Scalloped Contours rectangle die. Once I popped it up with dimensionals, I placed all of the flowers and leaves.
- Finally, I colored the Frosted & Clear Epoxy Droplets with alcohol markers, then placed the a couple of Frosted Flower Embellishments.
ART IN BLOOM PHOTOPOLYMER STAMP SET
Build your own flower garden with the Art in Bloom Stamp Set. Stamp the line art images first, then stamp with the solid washed images to quickly add a watercolor look. Add one of the all-occasion sentiments included in this set or another one of your choice; the images in this set will work with many sentiments.
* 15 photopolymer stamps
BLOOM HYBRID EMBOSSING FOLDER
Use just the dies to cut images. Or use just the embossing folder to emboss cardstock. Or use them together to cut AND emboss at the same time! Try embossing a card front, then adding die-cut flowers in a different color for effortless coordination.
* 1 embossing folder: 4-1/2″ x 6-1/4″ (11.4 x 15.9 cm)
* 9 dies: 3-1/2″ x 4″ (8.9 x 10.2 cm)
