My Card Today
My card for you today is a Triple Step Card that I saw a couple of years ago and decided it was time to give it a go. I think this fun fold is great to use with any of your scraps of beautiful designer papers and I bet you have some right there on your craft table, don’t you? It was so easy for me to pair the Texture Chic paper with its coordinating stamp set, Season of Chic and its coordinating dies. This suite of products is a MUST-HAVE if you haven’t gotten it yet!
My secrets to making this project
- Firstly, let me give you the link to the inspiration for my card today – Crafty Karen Designs.
- Even though I am no stranger to step cards, this one got me turned around and upside down a couple of times till I changed the way I thought about the fold.
- If you want to make this fun fold – and I really encourage you to do so – think of the card base in terms of columns. I have it marked with a “1” and “2” and “3.”
Card Measurements and Instructions for the Card Base
- Card Base: 7″ x 10″ cardstock
- Cardstock Panels: 2-1/4″ x 2-3/4″ and 2″ x 2-3/4″ (2 pieces) and 1-3/4″ x 6-3/4″
- Designer Paper Panels: 2-1/8″ x 2-5/8″ and 1-7/8″ x 2-5/8″ (2 pieces) and 1-5/8″ x 6-5/8″
- I marked the card base at the 2-1/2″ and 4-3/4″ on the 7″ side. Make a light pencil mark all the way down the paper. This creates 3 columns for the card base.
- In the first column (2-1/2″ wide side to the left), you will score at the 5″ mark to the first pencil line on the 10″ side.
- In the second column (middle section), you will score at 4,” 7,” and 8″ from the first pencil line to the second on the 10″ side.
- Then, in the third column (right side), you will score at 3,” 6,” and 8″ on the 10″ side.
- Once the score lines are in place, the cut lines are easy to see:
- Cut between the 4″ and 8″ between columns 1 and 2 pencil line.
- Then, cut between 3″ and 8″ between columns 2 and 3 pencil line.
- There! All you have to do now is erase the pencil marks, then fold and burnish the score lines and your card base is done.
Now, the FUN Part!
- After the card base was done and the panels adhered, it was so much fun to make the rest of the card.
- Firstly, I stamped the flowers with Petal Pink ink and used a dauber to add Calypso Coral ink to the edges and centers of the flowers. After that, I stamped the outline of the flowers in Soft Suede ink then cut them all out with the coordinating die.
- After that, I stamped the leaf in Soft Succulent and Soft Suede inks and cut them out.
- Then, I cut two of the smaller leaves from dies (no coordinating stamp) and colored them very lightly with stampin’ Blends.
- Before adhering them to the card, I cut out the really fun background die with Distressed Gold specialty paper and adhered it to the card base. Then, I layered all of the flowers and leaves on top.
- Once that was done, I stamped both sentiments and cut them out with dies from Stylish Shapes, popping them up with dimensionals. I made a double bow with linen thread and laid the sentiment over it.
- Finally, I thought the card could use that bee from Splendid Thoughts, so I stamped it in Soft Suede and colored it with Mango Melody before cutting it out. Then, I added the gold dots to the centers of the flowers.

Debbie, this card is stunning! And I appreciate your breakdown of the multiple folds! I will have to try this soon!! The gold foil tucked into the focal point is my favorite detail, but you know how much I like that bit of shine. Give your little man a big hug from me! I certainly hope his fascination for books never subsides!
