Watercolor Shapes CAS Card for Alphabet Challenge

Mountain Air CAS Card by Debbie Mageed

Hi, Stampers!

The Alphabet Challenge has a new theme starting today – “R is for Reduce” – as in keeping it clean and simple. Since I need to send holiday cards, I used this opportunity to make a card that Could be easily reproduced in no time at all. Using three stamp sets, Mountain Air, Watercolor Shapes and Perched In A Tree, I made a holiday card that surely fits a CAS theme, at least for me! I really love how this card turned out. Did you? I would love to hear what you think in a comment!

Once you finish here, I hope you visit our Alphabet Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!

My secrets!

  • Firstly, this A2 card started with thick white cardstock, cut to 11″ x 4-1/4″ and scored at 5-1/2.”
  • I stamped the rectangle watercolor stamp from Watercolor Shapes in Balmy Blue ink, then stamped the trees from Mountain Air in Shaded Spruce and the little birds in black ink. After that, I stamped the sentiment from Perched In A Tree.
  • Finally, I cropped it out with the Stitched Rectangle die, then layered it onto Shaded Spruce cardstock.
  • I have left the inside with a blank layer of white with Shaded Spruce cardstock to give the card some weight.
  • There! This card was quite simple and came together in a jiffy, so now I can make a bunch more!

I’m sharing my card with these challenges:

  1. Thank you for showing the use of the Watercolor stamp set…I bought that stamp but haven’t used it yet, and you have inspired me. Btw, it is a lovely and simple card.

  2. I think this card is stunning in its simplistic message! The stamp set Perched in a Tree has wonderful sentiments in addition to the sweet bird and will remain in my forever stash! The stitching and color panel are great details that showcase the imagery and message. So very well done, Debbie, IMHO!

As for Noah, what a delightful end to your blog post!

  3. This is one of the most beautiful cards I’ve seen. You just feel at peace looking at it. I may use it for a focal point in my daily quiet time. You are so talented, thank you for sharing.

  4. That is just so lovely Debbie – I haven’t used the watercolour shapes yet, but it gives a fab background for your trees.

  6. You have created an absolutely wonderful CAS card, I like the tranquility that comes with all the white space, and the motif of trees is such a lovely centerpiece. I like your colour scheme and the sentiment is so fitting for a winter/Christmas/New Year’s card. The stitched border in combination with the background paper is such a great idea to frame your card. I hope you had fun creating this great DT inspiration.
