Happy Forest Friends Shadow Box Card for the Alphabet Challenge

Shadow Box Card using Happy Forest Friends by Debbie Mageed

Hi, Stampers!

A new Alphabet Challenge is starting today and the theme is “A is for Adorable” since we are beginning another alphabet rotation. So, I know you all will love playing along with this one, right? I made this card a little while ago and it was the perfect time to show it to you because I am moving into my craft room this week and it is utter chaos at the moment. This shadow box card was lots of fun to make with the Happy Forest Friends designer paper, and with just a bit of fussy cutting, my adorable little critters made this fun fold card super fast to put together.

Once you finish here, I hope you visit our Alphabet Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!

My secrets!

  • Firstly, if you haven’t made a shadow box card before, here is a Splitcoaststampers tutorial for you to follow. I didn’t change much at all so you should be able to make this card without a problem.
  • Card Base: Firstly, I cut 2 pieces of cardstock at 4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″ (quarter sheet of cardstock). Score short ends of both pieces at 1/2″ and 1″.
  • After that, I used the oval die from Framed Florets for the opening on the front. Then, I decided to add some embossing to the front, which was a bit of a mistake since it made the front a little weak. Therefore, I added another layer of Crumb Cake behind it and cut out the oval with the Stitched Shapes dies.
  • Finally, to complete the shadow box card front, I cut the Happy Forest Friends designer paper for the inside.

And now, the fun part!

  • After that was done, I watched some TV and fussy cut all of the cute critters as well as two trees and a tree stump.
  • Then, I cut the banners out of the designer paper and stamped the Happy Birthday banner from This Birthday Piggy for the bear to hold.
  • Once all that was done, I began adhering all of it together, then used sticky strips on the edges to give it all a firm edge.

Then, on the flip side…

  • So, the flip side is just a white piece of cardstock with more banners to make it festive. This way, I can personalize it for the recipient so they can enjoy the adorable handmade card just for them.
