Dragonfly Garden Birthday Card for the Alphabet Challenge

Dragonfly Garden Birthday Card by Secrets To Stamping

Hi, Stampers!

A new Alphabet Challenge is starting today, and the theme is “D is for Dragonfly.” So, for this theme, I pulled out Dragonfly Garden, which just retired, then used the Dragonflies Punch, which is still current in the new catalog. Then, I paired it with the beautiful Fresh As A Daisy designer paper. I love dragonflies and remember how plentiful they were in places I have lived in the past, but I haven’t seen many here in Chicago yet.

Once you finish here, I hope you visit our Alphabet Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!

My secrets!

  • Firstly, this is such an easy A2 card to make, and I hope you will try one.
  • The card base is 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ and scored at 3.”
  • After that, I cut a white cardstock at 2-3/4″ x 4″ and the designer paper was cut 2-5/8″ x 3-7/8.”
  • Inside: white cardstock was cut to 5-1/4″ x 4.”

And now, the fun part!

  • Once the card base was done, I stamped the stamp from Dragonfly Garden with Boho Blue ink.
  • Then, I colored it with a very light touch of Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends marker and punched it out with its coordinating punch. Also, I decided a little vellum dragonfly layer would be nice so I punched out a second one and glued them together.
  • After that, I stamped the Cheerful Daisies sentiment and punched it out with the Tailored Tag Punch.
  • Then, I cut more vellum with the retired Starburst Punch and added Boho Blue cardstock cut with the 2″ circle punch.
  • Finally, I added just a few Solid Gems to the dragonfly and a couple of small ones scattered about.

Then, on the inside…

  • So, for the inside, after adhering the white cardstock to the card base, I stamped the pretty flowers with Boho Blue ink (masking the white cardstock at the bottom) so they could be seen when the card is closed.

I’m sharing my card with these challenges:
