Bold Bouquet All Occasion Card for the Alphabet Challenge

Bold Bouquet All Occasion Card by Secrets To Stamping

Hi, Stampers!

A new Alphabet Challenge is starting today and the theme is “F is for Flying (things that fly)” with Deborah as our host. This theme is a such a fun one, so I used the Queen Bee bundle that I bought just before we found out that it was going to retire. Then, I paired it with a new Bold Bouquet bundle to give the bees some pretty blooms to buzz around.

Once you finish here, I hope you visit our Alphabet Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, I starting with an A2 card base, cut to 4-1/4″ x 11″ and scored at 5-1/2″.
  • I have seen some cards made that had the card front looking like a fence, so I thought I could try to CASE the idea. So, I took the card base and cut 1″ from the bottom and the score line. Then, I cut three 1/2″ pieces off the piece that had been cut away.
  • Once that was done, I cut two pieces of cardstock to 5-1/2″ x 1/2″ and glued them to the top and the bottom of the card front, making sure that they were in line with the card base. Then, I glued the 1/2″ pieces in place, starting with the middle one then the other two.
  • It was at this point that I realized that the card will be really cute until I sign the inside of the card! My handwriting was very nice once-upon-a-time but those days are long past me! So, I knew I wanted a background for the card front, and turned to the May 2023 Paper Pumpkin kit yet again – love this kit! So, feel free to use the fence look on the kit card bases and save yourself some trouble LOL!

And now, the fun part!

  • Once that was done, I started stamping the flowers by stamping off once to keep them on the lighter side with Moody Mauve ink.
  • After that, I cut out the stems/leaves with Lemon Lime Twist cardstock, I colored them with Old Olive Stampin’ Blends to get different color saturations for them.
  • Then, I stamped the bee, colored the flower with Moody Mauve and cropped it out with its coordinating die and cropped out the other bee die in white for the bottom layer and black for the outline die. Before layering them together, I used the Wild Wheat Stampin’ Blend onto the white piece.
  • I found a great die in the Seaside Bay dies to cut Mossy Meadow cardstock for a patch of grass under the flowers. Once that was done, I glued the leaves/stems to the card base and popped the flowers up with dimensionals. Then, I popped the bees up with dimensionals as well.
  • Lastly, I stamped the sentiment in Boho Blue ink. Since I couldn’t find a die that would crop it out completely, I made my own! All I did was take the Stitched Rectangle die that was long enough to crop it out, and kept using it on each of the sides (making sure that the stitches lined up). Then, it was popped up with dimensionals.
