Oceanfront is on the Horizon for Make My Monday

Oceanfront On The Horizon Card by Secrets To Stamping

Hi, Stampers!

A new Make My Monday challenge is starting today and the theme is “Water” with Dawn as our host – what a great theme for the weather we are having here in Chicago! We will have lots of heat and no rain in sight this week, so going to the lake seems like a great idea. Oceanfront is the perfect stamp set for this one and I haven’t used it since I got it a year ago. It made sense to pair with the On The Horizon bundle that I barely used before it retired – hate it when that happens!

Once you finish here, I hope you visit the Make My Monday Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, this A2 easel card started with a card base of 11″ x 4-1/4″ and scored at 2-3/4″ and 5-1/2″.
  • After that, I cut a piece of cardstock to 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ to make the card front panel that will become the easel.
  • Then, I cut the By The Bay designer paper to 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ for the panel.

And now, the fun part!

  • Once that was done, I took a piece of white cardstock and began stamping the images to make the ocean view I wanted.
  • Firstly, I stamped the sky image with Balmy Blue ink, and the water image with Coastal Cabana ink. After that, I stamped the beach image with Crumb Cake ink and the sentiment with Balmy Blue ink. I wanted to add some life to the card so I stamped the birds image onto the sky.
  • Once that was done, I cropped it out with the Deckled Rectangle die and adhered it to the Crumb Cake cardstock that had been cut with the Stitched Rectangle die. Then, I popped the panel up with dimensionals onto the panel and adhered it to the easel card base.
  • After that, I cut out two pieces of each of the fences and glued them together. I decided that the left fence needed to be trimmed a bit so I cut off two of the fences posts on the left side so that it would fit. Then, it was glued to the panel.

Then, on the inside…

  • Since I decided not to put a sentiment on the inside till I am ready to use the card, I just stamped the grass pieces to the bottom of the card. After that, I stamped the two boulder images, fussy cut them out, and popped them up with dimensionals to be the “stopper” for the easel.

I’m sharing my card with these challenges:
