So Refreshing Summer Card for Make My Monday

So Refreshing All Occasion Card by Secrets To Stamping

Hi, Stampers!

A new Make My Monday challenge is starting today and the theme is “Summer,” hosted by JoAnn. My daughter Sarah came home for a couple of days recently and made us the most delicious drink that is perfect for summer. So, I wanted to use that idea for my card today using the brand new So Refreshing bundle that I received from my sister Katy for my birthday next month. Yep, I’m not much for waiting till my birthday to use my gifts because at my age surprises are few and far between. I just love this bundle because it’s not the typical style in the Stampin’ Up catalog plus I really think it will be versatile. I have the easy recipe she made at the end of my post if you’re interested!

Once you finish here, I hope you visit the Make My Monday Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, this A2 card started with white cardstock, cut at 4-1/4″ x 11″ and scored at 5-1/2.”
  • After that, I chose two of the patterned papers from the new Glorious Gingham paper that just scream summer to me, cutting the Lemon Lime Twist large check pattern to 4″ x 5-1/4″.
  • Then, I cut white cardstock to 2-3/4″ x 4″ and the Blueberry Bushel small check paper to 2-5/8″ x 4″ and layered it onto the other panel.
  • Once that was done, I popped up the entire panel onto the card base.

And now, the fun part!

  • After that, I first stamped the filler for the pitcher and glasses with Lemon Lime Twist ink, and stamped the outline images around it. Then, they were cropped out with the coordinating dies.
  • After that, I cut out the cute tableclothy die with white cardstock, glued it down and popped up the pitcher and glasses with dimensionals.
  • Then, I stamped the sentiment from Layering Leaves stamp set, which is wonderful for all the great sentiments and fonts. Once that was done, I cropped it out with the Double Oval Punch.
  • So, the card was feeling just a little sparse still, so I stamped the floral stamp and the coordinating stem. Since this was a little tricky for me, my last attempt was to stamp the flowers first and the stem second to get it placed correctly. If you have a better technique, please let me know in a comment!
  • Also, I stamped the limes, cropped them out and popped them up with a mini dimensional.
  • Finally, I thought that a pitcher of a sweet drink would interest bees in summer, so I pulled out the retired Bumblebee Trinkets for a fun touch of bling.

Then, on the inside…

  • Lastly, the inside of the card used Blueberry Bushel cardstock, cut at 4″ x 5-1/4″ and layered on top with white cardstock cut at 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8.”
  • After that, I stamped the sentiment from So Refreshing and cut two 1″ pieces of the scrap of patterned paper and cut it on the diagonal for the corners.

It’s been so hot here in Chicago that it was time to bring out the water toys to keep little Noah cool! He is heading out of town for his very first vacation so I won’t be seeing him for a couple of weeks! 🙁
