Artistically Inked Birthday Card for the Make My Monday Challenge

Artistically Inked Birthday Card by Secrets To Stamping

Hi, Stampers!

A new Make My Monday challenge is starting today, and the theme is “Birthday” because TODAY is mine! I’m getting old, too – and, sheesh, getting old isn’t for wimps. Got any advice besides making more cards to forget?? If you do, please let me know in a comment. So, anyhoo, my birthday card today used one of my favorite bundles that I haven’t inked up in a long time, Artistically Inked and used a super easy technique that I will describe in the tutorial below. Then, I paired it with one of my favorite designer paper packs in the new catalog, Inked Botanicals. Don’t let this summer get away from you without using it! It’s beautiful for summer cards.

Once you finish here, I hope you visit our Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, my A2 card started with white cardstock, cut to 4-1/4″ x 11,” and scored at 5-1/2.”
  • After that, I cut the Calypso Coral cardstock to 4″ x 5-1/4″ and the Inked Botanical Designer Paper to 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8.”

And now, the fun part!

  • Once that was done, I got out my trusty Stamparatus (but you can use any stamp positioning tool) and stamped the large blossom stamp with Petal Pink ink. Then, I got my smallest blending brush, inked it up with Calypso Coral ink in the center of the stamp, and stamped over the first image. Isn’t that easy?? In the past, I had added the second color over the first color and only stamped once. The result was pretty good, but this technique is better.
  • So, after doing the first flower, I did a couple of the smaller ones as well as some leaves, using the same technique. Then, they were all cut out with their coordinating dies.
  • After that, I cut the large background die with white cardstock, as well as the large leaf die cut. I layered them onto the card, then popped the flowers up over them with dimensionals.
  • Next, I stamped the sentiment in Calypso Coral and cropped it out with the long banner from the Sending dies. Then, to finish the card, I added the iridescent pearls to the front of the card.

I’m sharing my card with these challenges:
