Abundant Beauty Friendship Card by Secrets to Stamping

Hi, Stampers!

A new Make My Monday challenge starts today with the theme, “Create Your Own Background.” Oh, there are SO many wonderful ways to make a card besides a designer paper background. It was time to get out the NEW Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks for some fun stenciling, so the card I have for you today is the first card I made with them. Stenciling is fun and easy and allows you to be as creative as you like to be. Also, you can use whatever you like to color them with, but I decided to use ink and my Stampin’ Brushes.

Once you finish here, I hope you visit the Make My Monday Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, I used Melon Mambo cardstock to make this A2 card, because I wanted to use a color that I rarely use. I cut the cardstock at 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ and scored it at 4-1/4.”

And now, the fun part!

  • So, as you can tell, the fun part of this card was all about coloring the stencils. Firstly, I taped my white cardstock to my glass mat. Then, I taped the petal mask down over the paper. After that, I first brushed Bubble Bath ink over the entire flower, then, using the same brush, inked the areas closest to the center with Melon Mambo ink.
  • Next, I replaced the petals mask with the one for the flower center, then, colored them with both black and Melon Mambo inks.
  • After that, I replaced that mask with the leaves mask. This time I did the leaves in random spots, using Shaded Spruce ink, trying to vary the ink concentration.
  • Once it was done, I cut it out with the Deckled Rectangle die and layered it onto Basic Black cardstock.
  • Then, I inked up the sentiment from the Irresistible Blooms stamp set and cropped it out with the retired Sending Flowers dies.
  • Finally, I colored the NEW Large Check Ribbon with the dark Melon Mambo Stampin’ Blends marker. Then, I tied a small piece of white Baker’s Twine into a bow in the middle of the ribbon and adhered it to the card base with glue dots.
  • Lastly, I finished the card with some Glossy Dots.
