It’s time for a new Creative Creases challenge. Firstly, thanks to all those who participated in the last challenge! If you haven’t played in the challenge yet, I hope I can inspire you to join the challenge that’s starting today! This Pop-Out Gatefold card is so easy and fun to make that I made two of them for you. One using the Joy To You sentiment has one layer panels that is quick to finish if you’re in a hurry but want a fun fold that will impress the recipient. Then, I made another one using a sentiment from Throughout The Year with two layer panels if you want to have even more WOW.

My Card Today
Today’s project is a Pop-Out Gatefold Card, which I have made before HERE. For this card, I turned the top and bottom pieces forward, which shows just how versatile this very easy fun fold really is. All this Joy To You card needed was some festive designer paper and it was done in a jiffy!

My Secrets!
Let’s start with the card base…
- Firstly, the card base started with 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ cardstock.
- After that, score at 2″ both ends on the 8-1/2″ side. Follow my instructions on THIS card if you want an A2 card.
- Then, on the 5-1/2″ side, cut between the two score lines at 1-1/2″ from both ends.
- Finally, on the 8-1/2″ side, score at 4-1/4″ on only the top and bottom pieces to the cut line, and score at 3″ on both ends at 3.”
- Layers:
- 1-3/4″ x 5-1/4″ for both outside panels
- Middle section: 2-1/4″ x 3/4″ sides
- Image Panel: Cardstock: 2-1/4″ x 2-1/2″ and white panel with sentiment cut to 2″ x 2-1/4″
- Top and Bottom Panels: 2″ x 1-1/4″ (4)
Now, the FUN part!
- So, the fun part of this card is the center panel, which I made with the sentiment from Joy To You in Night of Navy Ink. I found it easier to cut the white cardstock first then stamp it into the center of the panel.
- To finish the focal image, I went through my embellishments and added some from the retired Urban Underground and Santa’s Workshop Enamels.

Then, for my second card…
- After making the card base from Night of Navy cardstock, I made panels with white cardstock and Beary Christmas DSP, but this time the white cardstock was cut to 1/8″ bigger than the DSP.
- The focal panel was cut to 2-1/2″ x 2-1/4″, then I stamped the sentiment from Throughout The Year stamp set in Night of Navy ink.
- I fussy cut the two bears from the DSP and attached them to the card, then added snowflakes from the Season of Chic coordinating dies.
- Finally, I added the Rhinestone Waves rhinestones to the middle of the snowflakes as well as the focal image for a little sparkle.

I am submitting this card to the following challenges:

I always love the funfolds you create Debbie- these are 2 amazing cards
I loved your cards and cut out the bases but for some reason I cannot get them to lay flat to mail in an envelope.
I love these cards! Such a great fun fold, will be so much fun to open for the recipient! Thank you for sharing how you made them!
Love your card!
Thanks Debbie. What beautiful cards!
I really liked this fun fold and made one from scraps to see how it looked. I am glad I made a sample because I found that it will not fit into a standard envelope for mailing. Now I am trying to re-size it to make it into a 4 1/4 by 5 1/2.
Hi, Kathy! Yes, it’s just slightly larger than the A2 size because I cut the card base at 8-1/2″. If you cut the base at 8″ or 8-1/4″ you should be able to fit it into the regular envelope. You will just need to adjust the panels accordingly.
Great card, but how does it fold for mailing?
Thanks for your comment! This is a gatefold card, so all you have to do is fold in the two sides to put in the envelope.
