Hi, Stampers!

A new Alphabet Challenge starts today with the theme “Pun/Fun Sentiments.” Yikes — there is not much in my stash of stamp sets in this category, but luckily I have the Taco Fiesta stamp set in my stash. This card should already be in the hands of one of my best friends in Grand Rapids, who celebrated her birthday last week. I usually give her sappy floral cards and she always gives me humorous ones, so I decided to surprise her this year. Sure hope she got a good giggle!

Once you finish here, I hope you visit our Alphabet Design Team gallery for some great inspiration (and giggles) then play along!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, this A2 card started with Old Olive cardstock, cut to 4-1/4 x 11 and scored at 5-1/2.
  • Since I had colored the fun images first, I had to start hunting for designer paper that would go with them. I finally found the perfect paper in my retired stash, Birthday Memories DSP. So, I cut Real Red cardstock to 4 x 5-1/4 and laid a piece of the designer paper diagonally till the Real Red corners were exposed. Then, I adhered it down and cut off the the paper that wasn’t needed. After that, it was adhered to the card base.

And now, the fun part!

  • So, as I mentioned, I jumped right into stamping and coloring the great images in Taco Fiesta stamp set. Then, I began coloring them with Stampin’ Blends (colors listed below). Once that was done, I fussy cut them all out.
  • Then, to give them an anchor to the card, I cut out white cardstock with a Stylish Shapes circle and layered it onto a Deckled Circle die that was just a bit larger than the white circle. They were adhered together, then all of the images were glued or popped up with dimensionals for some more dimension.
  • Once that was done, I stamped the two sentiments in Old Olive ink and cropped them out with a Deckled Rectangle for one and the cute retired Washi Label Punch for the other.
  • Finally, to finish off the card front, I added some bling.

Then, on the inside…

  • So, to complete the inside, I made the panel with Real Red and white cardstock, cut with the large Deckled Rectangle die.
  • After that, I stamped and colored the cute little candies. Then, I stamped and colored the pinata, fussy cut it out and glued it to the card base.
