Christmas Classics Fun Fold Card for Creative Creases #71

It’s time for a new Creative Creases challenge. Firstly, thanks to all those who participated in the last challenge! If you haven’t played in the challenge yet, I hope I can inspire you to join the challenge that’s starting today! I can’t believe that I hadn’t used the great Christmas Classics dies before this card. Today I made a Suspended Book holiday card. I have also seen it called a Pop-up Book fun fold. Whatever name you choose to use, it’s so much fun to make! I love a fun fold that lets designer paper do all of the heavy lifting, so you can easily make multiples for your family and friends.

My Card Today

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, this Christmas Classics card started with cardstock, cut to 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 and scored at 4-1/4.
  • Card Base Panels for card front and inside panels: Cardstock: 4-1/8 x 5-3/8 (3) and DSP: 4 x 5-1/4 (3)
  • Small Card Base Panels: Cardstock: 5-1/2 x 5, score at 2-3/4 on the 5-1/2 side
  • White Cardstock: 2-5/8 x 4-7/8 (2) and DSP: 3-3/8 x 4-5/8 (1)
  • Pop-up Mechanism: 2-1/4 x 8-1/2 then score at: 1/2, 1-1/2, 2-1/2, 4-1/4, 6, 7, 8
  • Belly Band: 9-1/2 x 1

Now, the FUN part!

  • After that was done, I stamped the sentiment and greenery in Garden Green ink.
  • My pop-up mechanism is different than you have seen on other suspended book cards because I decided to add adhesive to the end of the cardstock. This certainly isn’t necessary but I like how it turned out.

Then, for the card front…

  • Belly Band: Firstly, I added a scoreline to one end and wrapped the rest around the card. Then, I added adhesive to close it. Next, I cut out white cardstock with the two dies from Christmas Classics, then stamped the “Season’s Greetings” to the smaller die cut. I adhered both pieces to the belly band and added the Matte Decorative Dots for a little bling.

I am submitting this card to the following challenges:

  1. What a lovely card with that beautiful winter foliage DSP and holiday sentiments! I really love the matte dots on the belly band, too! That die from the Christmas Classics bundle is so elegant! Perfect for the belly band you created!

  2. I love your card Debbie. The mood it sets is somewhat mysterious and like entering into an enchanted forest. The touch of adding the pine needles to the inside of the card is very special too. Belly band pop of color is excellent as well.

  3. I love this card Debbie, it looks elegant closed and wearing it’s beautiful belly-band and then there’s the lovely pop up inside.
Gorgeous! Love those beautiful papers too.

  7. Well Debbie, we’ve done it again. We’ve chosen the same die to feature with our fun-fold cards. Too funny.

I love your card within a card. So much space to use. Beautiful, just like you, amazing friend.
