Hi, Stampers!
A new Make My Monday challenge starts today with the theme “Wreaths” and I am the host! Am I the only one who thinks of wreaths during the holiday season? When I chose this theme, I didn’t have anything current in my collection, so I purchased the Cottage Wreaths when we had a stamp sale a few months ago. The stamps are wonderful and you can also purchase the coordinating dies, which makes it even better! These two cards were so easy to make and would be suitable for any time of year. So, I did one for Thanksgiving and the other for Christmas.
Once you finish here, I hope you visit the Make My Monday Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!
My Secrets!
Card #1
Let’s start with the card base…
- Firstly, the Christmas card was made with a white card base, cut to 7-1/4 x 5-1/2 and scored at 3 to make a fast and very easy fun fold card.
- After that, I cut the Joy of Christmas designer paper with the largest die from Ornate Layers and glued it to the card base.
And now, the fun part!
- Once that was done, I took a piece of white cardstock and stamped the wreath with leaves using Old Olive ink.
- After that, I took the stamp that looks like fir branches and stamped those with the Old Olive ink all around the outer portion of the wreath to give it more fullness.
- Then, I used the wreath die and cut Old Olive cardstock and glued it over the wreath.
- Since the white background was a little stark, I splattered Gold Wink of Stella and cropped it out with the Scalloped Contours die.
- Before gluing it to the card base, I wrapped gold twine into a bow around the lower part of the panel.
- Finally, I cut the red bow from more designer paper and added gold Blooming Pearls to the wreath and the bow. After that, I colored one Polished Dot with the Dard Real Red Stampin’ Blends marker.
Then, the second card…
- So, for the second card, I created the card base by cutting Copper Clay cardstock to the A2 size – 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 and scored at 4-1/4.
- After that, I cut the All About Autumn designer paper with the Radiating Stitches die and layered it onto white cardstock.
- Then, I began stamping the wreath with Copper Clay ink in the same method as I did the first one. When it came time to cut out the wreath, this time I used more All About Autumn paper to give it lots of variable color.
- After that, I splattered Copper Clay onto the panel, cut it out with the Stitched Rectangle die, and adhered it to the card base.
- Then, I stamped “Grateful” from the Cottage Wreaths stamp set into the right bottom corner with Copper Clay ink.
- Once that was done, I stamped the bow in Copper Clay ink, added the Speckled Dots and a Linen Thread bow to glue down under the first bow.
