Handcrafted Elements Bauble Card for the HLS Die Challenge

Handcrafted Elements Holiday Card by Debbie Mageed

Hi, Stampers!

A new Happy Little Stampers Die Challenge starts today, and the theme is always Anything Goes with Dies. I wanted to make a pretty Christmas card using the Handcrafted Elements dies for you today. This die set has some wonderful pieces for all occasions and doesn’t coordinate with a stamp set so you can use any sentiment you have. I unapologetically admit that there are quite a few retired products used on this card. I love using all of my products, current and retired, don’t you? If you don’t have what I used, you can simply substitute something else to make yours unique.

I am sad to say that this is the last month of the Happy Little Stampers Challenges. We aren’t sure it will come back but the coordinator, Kylie, has some health issues that are making it difficult for her to continue. May she recover quickly and hopefully she will bring our fun challenges back soon. I enjoyed being on the design team and wish the rest of the DT the best in the coming year.

Once you finish here, I hope you visit the HLS Die Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, I used Gorgeous Grape cardstock, cut to 8 x 5-1/2 and scored at 4 (feel free to make this 8-1/2 x 5-1/2).
  • After that, I cut the Distressed Gold paper with the Ornate Layers die, and layered it onto the Pearlescent Specialty Paper, cut to 3-7/8 x 5-3/8.

And now, the fun part!

  • The bauble was so easy to make, cutting both Distressed Gold paper and White cardstock to give it some strength. Then, I cut the small oval for the middle with Rainbow Glimmer paper I had in my retired stash. I put that between the two bauble pieces and glued them all together.
  • After that, I cut Pearlescent Specialty Paper with the Hemstitched Oval die (Sorry! This die was made by Spellbinders – #S5-332) and adhered to the card base. Then, the bauble was popped up with dimensionals.
  • After that, I made a bow with gold ribbon and attached it to the bauble. Then, I added gold pearls for even more sparkle.
  • Finally, I stamped the “Merry Christmas” from the Beary Cute stamp set and cropped it out with a small Stitched Rectangle die.

  1. Good morning Debbie: Your ornament card is timeless. The distressed gold paper looks like something from Egyptian archaeology, and the color choices give a sense of Moroccan origin. Just an
all around winner and you should be so proud to send this to anyone!

  2. Debbie, your creation is exquisite. You also did a great job creating Adam! All of your family are sharp dressers. Noah is quite the lucky boy to have ridden a camel and a horse. Are they in Egypt or Saudi Arabia? Thank you for entering your card at Pammie’s Inky Pinkies and I wish you the best in being the chosen Random Winner!

  3. This is just gorgeous! Love the colors you used !

Thank you for joining in at Pammie’s Inky Pinkies Challenge!
Hope to see more from you!

    Hugs,
    Renata

  4. Your card is gorgeous! I love the use of the rainbow glimmer CS for the middle. (I’ll have to check my stash and see if I have some). The finished card is so striking, I love it!
