Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!
Hi, Stampers!
Happy New Year! For our first blog hop, the theme is Sale-A-Bration. We hope that you will be inspired by the creations the Pals are sharing with you! Then, you will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal. The best way to start the new year is…. Sale-A-Bration! There is something about it that’s just so much fun! I love how Stampin’ Up! gives us FREE stuff and so much of it coordinates with products we already have – or want! For me, the big winner is the Flight & Airy designer paper. You know how much I love birds, don’t you? The fact that they were able to make them any way we might be able to use them was perfect. My project today shows you how much fun this paper really is!
My Secrets!
Let’s start with the card base…
- Firstly, this variation of a gatefold card started by cutting the designer paper to 5-1/2 x 10-1/4, and scored at 3″ and 7-1/4.”
- After that, I cut from the score line down to the 1-1/2″ mark on both sides.
- The Belly Band uses designer paper, cut to 10 x 1-1/2. I ended up cutting a bit off but like to have too much than too little.
And now, the fun part!
- Honestly, since this paper is so pretty and a very nice weight, I didn’t want to go overboard, so this card came together very fast and easily.
- The front simply has the sentiment from the Thoughtful Expressions bundle (you will see me using this one A LOT). Then, after stamping the sentiment in Misty Moonlight ink, I cut it out with the coordinating die in the bundle.
- The focal image on the Belly Band was made with designer paper cut out with another great die from the Thoughtful Expressions bundle. Then, I cut out 2 frames with the same die and glued it on top of the designer paper piece. Doing this adds some more weight and the cutouts from the smaller frames were glued together and added to the back to give it even more weight. (I’m not sure that step was necessary for a belly band but added it at the time I thought I’d just adhere this piece to the front of the card instead of making a belly band.)
- To make the belly band, I scored the piece of designer paper at 3″ and then adhered the focal image to the belly band where it would be in the middle of the card front. After that, I wrapped the paper around the card and folded the paper, being careful not to make it too tight. Once that was done, I cut off the excess paper so that it would overlap a little but couldn’t be seen and adhered everything down.
- Lastly, I added a few dots to the focal image and sentiment for a little sparkle.
Then, on the inside…
- Oh, how I love the inside of this card! Firstly, I cut white cardstock with the large Deckled Rectangle and stamped the sentiment from the Layering Leaves stamp set in Misty Moonlight ink. Then, I couldn’t resist adding a fussy cut little birdie for a little detail.
- After that, I cut white cardstock with the large die twice and used the smaller one to cut the designer paper and glue them together. Finally, I added fussy-cut birds to place in the foreground of the panels.
