Sending Love Fun Fold Card for Creative Creases #74

It’s time for a new Creative Creases challenge. Firstly, thanks to all those who participated in the last challenge! If you haven’t played in the challenge yet, I hope I can inspire you to join the challenge that’s starting today! Today I made a very easy, fast fun fold with the Sending Love dies that you will love to make as well. I have a problem, dear readers, and that’s cutting up these beautiful photo-like designer papers! So, my card is square to maximize the use of this gorgeous paper, but feel free to use this technique on any size card.

My Card Today

Create this card using Sending Love by Stampin' Up! #DebbieMageed

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, my card started with white 12″ cardstock, cut to 6 x 12, and scored at 6.
  • Then, I cut both sides of the card front at 1″ from the bottom edge up to the score line.
  • After that, I cut black cardstock to 5-3/4 x 5-3/4 and Meandering Meadows designer paper to 5-5/8 x 5-5/8. Once that was done, I glued them together.
  • Then, I placed it underneath the center panel and made a small pencil mark where the center panel hit it on each side. After gluing the center panel down, I added the side panels, making sure the panels matched up.

Now, the FUN part!

  • So, the fun part was making the mailbox – isn’t it cute? Firstly, I cut Smoky Slate cardstock with the two dies. After that, I cut the mailbox flag with black cardstock. Then, using a small black brad attached it to the mailbox before adhering the mailbox together. OK, I know that most crafters are keeping the mailbox door open, but who would do that IRL? So, I closed mine to keep the card inside safe. 🙂
  • Once that was done, I cut black cardstock with the “sending” die and Smoky Slate cardstock with the background “sending” die and adhered them together. (SECRET: I kept the black “sending” cardstock inside the die to apply the glue, then laid it on top of the gray one, gently releasing the black one on top through the die holes when necessary.)
  • Next, I stamped the other sentiment and punched it out with the Classic Label Punch, then punched Smoky Slate cardstock with the punch and cut it in half to add a little detail.
  • Finally, I wanted to add the birds to the background but thought they should be black instead of gold. So, I used the Black Stampin’ Blends marker to color them before adding them to the card.

Then, on the inside…

  • I like keeping the inside of cards on the simple side, so all I did was ink the two stamps from Circle Sayings in black ink.
  • Finally, to finish the card, I colored the dragonflies with black Stampin’ Blends Marker and placed them inside.

Well, you are all caught up with my photos of Noah because the frigid weather and snow have kept us all home. So, I thought I’d share a sunrise photo from last weekend. Noah will be back this weekend and I can’t wait!

  1. Debbie, I love your cute little mailbox, and I agree that no one keeps their mailbox open in real life! Thanks so much for the tip about leaving the delicate die cut in the die to adhere glue and then releasing it onto the second layer by pushing through the holes in the die. That’s brilliant and will come in handy for me in the future! Stay warm and safe in this cold snap and enjoy your time with Noah this weekend.

  2. Love love love your mailbox card! It is perfect in every way! And yes, great die tip! I’ll do that today!

  3. Debbie, I love this pretty card, Debbie. The mailbox on the side of a country lane is calming and peaceful with sweet sentiments on the outside and in. We’re having a snow day in Delaware today with snow falling from 5 a.m. until 10 p.m. tonight. Enjoy your day!

  4. I always learn something new from your posts and amazing designs. Thank you for joining our Cut it Up challenge.

  5. I too struggle cutting into a beautiful piece of designer paper but you made a truly beautiful card with it! Love how this turned out! I see you too had to joy of this wonderful snow 🙂 If only it didn’t get as cold as it did, but luckily next week looks so much better temperature wise! Hope Noah got a chance to build a snowman before the arctic temperature arrived!

I thought you moved to a warmer climate. Did you move back? Does Noah love playing in the snow?

  10. A big, huge, WOW for this card Debbie. Fantastic idea to combine the mailbox with that beautiful DSP. And the front flap…. now that’s simply genius. Thank you for sharing this fun fold my friend.
