Construction Zone Birthday Card for the Pals Blog Hop

Construction Zone Birthday Card by Stampin' Up! Debbie Mageed at Secrets To Stamping

Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!

Hi, Stampers!

This month, the theme is “All About the Kids.” We hope to inspire you with the creations the Pals share with you today! Then, you will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal. I knew I wanted to use Construction Zone since I bought it as soon as I saw it in the catalog. My grandson Noah loves anything related to transportation, and yellow is his favorite color so this card is for him. Since he’s only 3, I kept it very simple.

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, I started out making a faux step card, but I forgot the faux part! So, I really don’t have a name for this one because it’s not a typical step card or double easel card. What would you call it?
  • The card base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 then I scored it at 3, 6, 7.
  • I also made a tent for the bottom to help it stand up by cutting cardstock to 3 x 5-1/2 and scored it at 1/2, 1-1/2, 2-1/2.

And now, the fun part!

  • So, I started with the Patchwork Pieces die, cutting Daffodil Delight and Basic Black cardstock. After that, I started piecing them together, alternating the colors, and gluing them down onto white cardstock.
  • Then, I stamped and colored all of the adorable Construction Zone stamp images, and fussy cut them out.
  • Once that was done, I stamped the sentiment in black ink and punched it out with the Heartfelt Hexagon Punch. I really like that it did a great job mimicking the bold lines in the Patchwork Pieces background.
  • After that, I took a Basic Black piece of cardstock, cut to 1-1/4 x 5-1/4 and ran it through the Basic 3D embossing folder for some fun texture.
  • Then, I glued all of the images down as shown.
  • Finally, I added the tent to the card.

Then, on the back…

  • Panel: Black Cardstock: 5-1/4 x 2-3/4. and White Panel: 5-1/8 x 2-5/8.
  • I simply stamped the sentiment in the middle of the panel before adhering to the card – less is more for a kid card!

More inspiration awaits, so use the lineup below to visit the rest of the Design Team. Then, please mark your calendars for our next blog hop next month, when our theme will be “See How My Garden Grows.”

Until then, have fun in your craft space!
