Welcome to the Fun Folds Blog Hop with Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators!!
Hi, Stampers!
We have a great blog hop of fun fold crafters today so I know you will enjoy the inspiration this month. There’s a lineup below to make it easy for you to hop along and see all of the great inspiration from other creative SU demonstrators. This fun fold is such a great one for you to try since it really shows off your pretty designer papers. I couldn’t wait to use the new Country Birdhouse bundle for my card, pairing it with Hello, Irresistible designer paper that makes such a great background for this stamp set.
My Secrets!
Let’s start with the card base…
- Firstly, I used Karen Titus’ card as inspiration. I wasn’t able to CASE it exactly because I just cut all of my designer papers into 6×6 pieces. (Now, I realize that cutting all of it might not be such a good idea but will continue doing it since it’s not a problem 99% of the time!) So, I decided to use white 12″ cardstock and make panels with my designer papers.
- Card Base: 12 x 5-1/2 cardstock (or designer paper if you follow Karen’s example) and scored at 2″ and 7-3/4.” To be honest, I was worried about making the second scoreline accurately, so I burnished the score lines, and then folded the card in half to at the scorelines to create a scoreline in the middle. It looks to be at 4-7/8 on my ruler though, so you can try that for your card, if you’d like.
- DSP Panels:
- Front: 5-1/4 x 1-3/4
- Middle Panels (2): 5-1/4 x 2-5/8
- Back Panel: 5-1/4 x 4
- After that, I glued the middle panels together to create the Storybook Fold.
Now, the FUN Part!
- Once that was done, I stamped the birdhouse directly onto the new Country Woods designer paper (on sale on May 1). Then, I cut it out with the coordinating die from the Country Birdhouse dies.
- Then, I cut the three pieces of the roof, with the scalloped die being used with the new Basic Beige cardstock, which I absolutely love! I cut the roof piece on the top with Lost Lagoon cardstock, then colored it with Pretty Peacock Stampin’ Blends.
- After that, I stamped the bird image a few times and colored them with Balmy Blue, Smoky Slate, and Soft Sea Foam. Then I cut the birds out with the coordinating die.
- Once that was done, I cut out the flowers and leaves, then I colored the flowers with Moody Mauve and the leaves with pretty Peacock and Lost Lagoon.
- I had cut out the little hole that there was a die for but wasn’t sure what to do about it or what it was really for. So, I a scrap of Pecan Pie and covered it from the back and used the Cork Rounds (I used 2) to make a little perch. If you have a better solution for that, please let me know in a comment!
- Once that was done, I cut Basic Beige cardstock with the Scalloped Contours die (definitely not leaving my stash any time soon) and glued it to the front flap of the card base, just on the left side. After that, I popped the birdhouse onto the panel, sticking one of the birds into the hole. The second bird was tucked onto the left side of the birdhouse and I made a little bouquet on the right side, then added a few of the new Swirly Dots for the flowers.
Unconstructed…
Constructed…
- The middle panel used the Delicate Forest image, stamped in Pretty Peacock, then the sentiment from Heartfelt Hexagon was stamped with Pretty Peacock as well. Once that was done, I cropped it out with the smaller Scalloped Contours die and glued it to the middle panel.
- The last panel I made used white cardstock that I cut with the Scalloped Contours die and will be left black till I know who will be getting this card.
