Another Magnolia Mood Card for the Alphabet Challenge

Create this card using Magnolia Mood by Stampin' Up! and Debbie Mageed at Secrets To Stamping

Hi, Stampers!

A new Alphabet Challenge starts today with the theme, “E is for Embossing” so you can use heat or dry embossing on your cards. I just posted THIS Magnolia Mood card on Tuesday. After making that card, I felt guilty about having so much fun with the just dies that I also wanted to show the beautiful stamp set. Since my daughter needs more wedding cards lately, I thought this stamp set would work perfectly. The new Basic Beige color added to the new Annual Catalog is beautiful and made this card look elegant and timeless. It is very close to the retired Sahara Sand, so I am very happy to see a new light neutral added to our color family.

Once you finish here, I hope you visit our Alphabet Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, this 5-1/2″ square card started with thick white cardstock, cut to 5-1/2 x 11 and scored at 5-1/2.
  • After that, I cut the Country Lace designer paper to 5-1/4 x 5-1/4 and dry embossed it with the Layering Florals embossing folder. This is the first time I have used this embossing folder and absolutely love it!!
  • Before adhering it to the card base, I sponged the edges with Basic Beige ink and attached the Basic Beige ribbon to the panel. Then, I cut a piece of ribbon and tied it into a neat little knot.

And now, the fun part!

  • Once that was done, I stamped the magnolia stamp with Basic Beige ink. Then, I colored it with Stampin’ Blends (listed below) and cropped it out with the coordinated die.
  • I chose another patterned paper from Country Lace and cut it with the Radiating Stitches die. Then, I cut white and Basic Beige cardstock to 2-1/2 x 4-1/8. After sponging the Basic Beige piece, I layered them as shown, then glued the Magnolia image on top.
  • I wanted the image to be fuller so I cut some of the leaves dies and glued them down with glue dots.
  • Then, using the Heartfelt Hexagon stamp set, I inked the sentiment with Basic Beige ink and cropped it out with the Stylish Shapes circle die.
  • Finally, I added a few flat pearls to the card front for some elegant sparkle.

Then, on the inside…

  • Once that was done, I made a layered panel with Basic Beige cardstock cut to 5-1/4 x 5-1/4 and white cardstock cut to 5-1/8 x 5-18.
  • Before adhering them together, I stamped the sentiment from Lifetime of Love and the floral image from Magnolia Mood.

Even at 3 years old, Noah wants to take selfies! He entertained himself while waiting for the next train to come through. He did several and they are hilarious – I’m keeping them all!
