It’s time for a new Creative Creases challenge. Firstly, thanks to all those who participated in the last challenge! If you haven’t played in the challenge yet, I hope I can inspire you to join the challenge that’s starting today! So, I have got TWO cards for you today, using the same fun fold that I know you are going to love! Both of them use the gorgeous Thoughtful Journey designer paper that I am currently obsessed with. This paper makes every card special and I apparently can’t stop using it – but I promise to move on soon. This fun fold is great because it stands up and makes the inside of the card as important as the front!

My Card Today

My Secrets!

Create this card using Thoughtful Journey designer paper by Stampin' Up! and Debbie Mageed at Secrets To Stamping

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, I made the card base, using Sue Campfield’s tutorial for both cards. She calls it a Squeeze Box Fun Fold, but it’s an accordion fold with a front that allows both sides of designer paper to be seen. The masculine was the first card I made. After finishing that one, I wanted to change it up so I made the second one with more feminine papers and colors.
  • You will need:
    • Card Base Cardstock: 4-1/4 x 5-1/2
    • The Squeeze Box Base Cardstock: 11 x 4-3/4 and scored at 2-3/4, 5-1/2, and 8-1/4
  • Front panel Cardstock: 1-3/4 x 5-1/2
  • Front DSP/Cardstock layer: 1-1/2 x 5-1/4 and
  • Front DSP: 3 x 5-1/2
  • Inside: 2 pieces of DSP: 2-1/2 x 4-1/2
  • Inside: 2 pieces of white cardstock, if needed for a personal message, measuring 2-1/2 x 4-1/2
  • Once that was done, the hardest part was putting the two pieces of paper together to create a front card base of 4-1/4 x 5-1/2. So, I marked the cardstock 1/2″ from the right side and used that as my guide for adhesive and laying the designer paper down – not hard at all!! Then, I added the other layers of designer paper to the inside of the card.
  • Feminine card:
    • I used cardstock instead of designer paper, dry embossed it, then wrapped ribbon that I adhered to the back before gluing it down to the card base. Then, I made a bow and glued it to the card base using glue dots.
    • I added more DSP to the inside of the back card base, measuring 4-1/8 x 5-3/8.

Now, the FUN part!

  • Masculine card: After that, I stamped the image from the Beside Me stamp set, and colored it with Stampin’ Blends (colors listed below). Once that was done, I cropped it out with the Radiating Stitches die and layered it onto Misty Moonlight cardstock. I haven’t decided what occasion this card will be used for, but this would be wonderful for Father’s Day, birthday, or just an all-occasion card to let them know you’re thinking of them.
  • On the inside, I cut the two white pieces of cardstock and stamped the sentiments from the So Sincere stamp set in Misty Moonlight ink.
  • Feminine card: I stamped the “new day, new adventure” sentiment from Feathered Flight in Petunia Pop ink and cropped it out with the new Unbounded Love dies. Then, I cut Petunia Pop cardstock with the same die for the frame and glued them to the card base. The sentiment from Encircled in Nature was also stamped with Petunia Pop ink for the other panel.
  • Finally, I added the Petunia Gems for a bit of sparkle.

Lastly, I wanted to say…

  • The feminine card started out as a Mother’s Day card but I soon decided that I wanted it for my daughter Sarah who is wrapping up her TY Residency year and moving to Milwaukee to begin her three years of Dermatology residency in June. It’s been a tough year, so I thought a card telling her how proud we are would be nice.
