Spotlight on Nature Fun Fold Card for the Pals Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!

Hi, Stampers!

This month, the theme is our Favorites from the New Catalog. We hope to inspire you with our creations today! You will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal. I am so happy you are here today to see my favorite stamp set in the new annual catalog. The moment I saw Spotlight on Nature I knew that I had to get it because of the beautiful images. My dear sister and upline Katy bought it for me for my birthday so I just received it last week. So, of course, I had to play with it right away! I decided to pair it with the wonderful Country Woods designer paper and love how this double easel card turned out. So, let’s take a look!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • This card ended up to be the size of an A6 card ~ 6″ x 4-1/2″ ~ because I just couldn’t sacrifice the look I wanted. However, if this is too big for you, you can simply decrease the size to the A2 card. (HERE is a link to a double easel card I made a few years ago.)
  • Card Base #1: 12 x 4-1/2 and scored at 6.
  • Card Base #2: 11-1/2 x 4-1/4 and scored at 2-7/8 and 5-3/4.
  • DSP: 4 x 5-5/8 and 4 x 2-7/8

And now, the fun part!

  • Firstly, this card started with stamping the flower onto the Country Wood patterned paper with Memento black ink. After that, I began coloring the flowers and leaves with stampin’ blends (colors listed below).
  • Once that was done, I cropped it out with the Wildflower Designs die that not only cut the image out but created a frame! I didn’t know that since I hadn’t used it before, so I cut white cardstock to make a nice frame around the image. Once I got that done, the entire panel was adhered to the card base.
  • Then, I stamped the butterfly on white cardstock and colored it with the same stampin’ blends markers. Once that was done, I fussy cut the butterfly and adhered it to the card with glue under its body and mini dimensionals under the wings.
  • After that, for the small front panel, I stamped the leaves image onto the designer paper and colored them with stampin’ blends.
  • Finally, to finish the card front, I stamped the sentiment from the Unbounded Love stamp set and cropped it out with a circle die from the coordinating die set. Before popping it up with mini dimensionals, I wrapped baker’s twine and adhered it to the card base. Lastly, a few Smoky Slate Pearls were adhered to add some sparkle.

Then, on the inside…

  • So, to finish this card, I cut black cardstock to 5-3/4 x 4-1/8 (the sizes of both of these could have been a bit better though – I must have been distracted when measuring! LOL)
  • I stamped the leaves onto the top and bottom corners in black ink and left them uncolored.
  • Finally, I had originally stamped the Happy Birthday and cut it out with the Wildflower Designs die, but it was too big. It would have covered up too much of the leaves, so I adhered it to the inside to finish the card.

We have even more inspiration to show you, so use the lineup below to visit the rest of the Design Team. Please mark your calendars for our next blog hop next month, when our theme will be Summer Vacations.

Until then, have fun in your craft space!

  1. Gorgeous card design, I’ve been resisting this set, but not sure how much longer I can hold off!

  7. Your card is beautiful. This is also my favorite stamp from the annual catalog. I love the flowers and the butterfly. I wish they had made dies from the actual stamp set, but inking on the DSP is brilliant.
