Unbounded Love Winged Gatefold Card for the Fun Fold Blog Hop plus FREE SHIPPING TODAY

Welcome to the Fun Folds Blog Hop with Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators!!

Hi, Stampers! We have a great blog hop of fun fold crafters today so I know you will enjoy the inspiration this month. There’s a lineup below to make it easy for you to hop along and see the great inspiration from other creative SU demonstrators. This fun fold is great for you to try since it looks more difficult than it is ~ don’t you love that kind?! The fun fold is called a Winged Gatefold and I paired it with the stunning papers – Thoughtful Designs and Thoughtful Journey – with the Unbounded Love and Heartfelt Hexagon (two great stamp set bundles).

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, I found this fold at Mitosu Crafts and loved how it shows off the Thoughtful Journey designer paper.
  • Card Base:
    • Cardstock cut to 9-1/4 x 5-1/2 and scored at 5/8, 2-5/8, 6-5/8, and 8-5/8.
    • Designer Paper Panels: 5-1/4 x 1-3/4 (4) and 5-1/4 x 3-3/4
  • Winged Base:
    • Cardstock cut to 10-1/16 x 3-3/4 and scored at 2, 4 on both ends
    • Cardstock panels: 1-3/4 x 3-1/2 (5)
    • Designer Paper Panels: 1-5/8 x 3-3/8 (4)
  • Once those were all cut, I adhered them together to complete both card bases. The center panel of the Winged Base was glued down first so I could figure out where the two ends would be glued.
  • SECRET: Once you know where the Winged Base is to be attached to the Card Base, mark it in pencil at the top and bottom, then cut the extra from the Card Base from the top and bottom off the Card Base. Believe me, your cutting, whether with a trimmer or scissors, will be much straighter than mine!

Now, the FUN Part!

  • Let’s face it ~ the designer paper does all of the heavy lifting on this fun fold card, so all I had to do was stamp the sentiment from Heartfelt Hexagon (one of my sleeper favorites!) and added some Speckled Dots for a touch of sparkle.

Then, let’s make a belly band…

  • The Belly Band is absolutely optional but I love making them!
  • The Belly Band started with Mossy Meadow cardstock, cut to 11 x 1-1/2. Then, I scored one end at 3″ and wrapped it loosely around the closed card to make the other scoreline. After that, I adhered the two ends together.
  • Once that was done, I cut out the designer paper to 3-3/4 x 2-3/8 and layered it onto the panel made with the Deckled Rectangle panel of Mossy Meadow and white cardstock.
  • The sentiment was stamped onto white cardstock and cut out with the Unbounded Love die, then I cut Mossy Meadow cardstock with the same die. I layered the white cardstock under the Mossy Meadow one, but the sentiment was on top.
  • Finally, I made a bow with the retired Mossy Meadow Braided Trim and placed it with a glue dot. Then, I added the Speckled Dots for more sparkle.
