Sneaky Peek of Autumn Expressions for the Alphabet Challenge

Create this card using Autumn Expressions by Stampin' Up! and Debbie Mageed at Secrets To Stamping

Hi, Stampers!

A new Alphabet Challenge starts today with the theme, “K is for Kittens/Cats.” OK, I make no secret of the fact that I love cats, right?! Sadly, we don’t have any current cats in our catalog but a dear friend of mine had just shared some of the cutest kittie die cuts with me. So, I decided to use them with a sneak peek of the new Autumn Expressions bundle that I just got in the holiday mini catalog preorder. The designer paper is to die for so I couldn’t wait to cut one up for this fun card.

Once you finish here, I hope you visit our Alphabet Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, this A2 card started with Blackberry Bliss cardstock, cut to 11 x 4-1/4 and scored at 5-1/2.
  • After that, I cut the beautiful Splendid Autumn DSP (item #164173) to 5-1/4 x 4 and glued it down to the card front. Then, I took the leftover piece of the DSP and cut it down to 1-3/8 x 4 and glued it down to the middle of the card front.

And now, the fun part!

  • Once that was done, I stamped the gorgeous sentiment from Autumn Expressions stamp set (item #164174) in black ink and cut it out with the really incredible coordinating Autumn Expressions dies (item #164055). Then, to make it stand out, I cut it out again with black cardstock and layered them together.
  • Before popping it up over the center panel, I cut a 4″ piece of the new Blackberry Bliss & Gold Textured Ribbon (item #164039) to adhere behind it with glue dots. Then, still wanting to add a bit of sparkle to the otherwise deep colored card, I added the new Gold Textured Dots (item #164027) and Woven Golden Leaves (item #164059).
  • Finally, I added the adorable (but contraband) kitties to the path on the DSP.

Then, on the inside…

  • So, I think the inside of a card should reflect the card front whenever possible. So, I cut Cherry Cobbler cardstock to 5-1/4 x 4.
  • After that, I stamped another one of the gorgeous sentiments in black ink, cut it out with the Deckled Rectangle die, and layered it onto black cardstock, cut to 4-7/8 x 3-1/2.
  • Finally, of course, I had to add another one of those adorable kitties!

I hope to share my card with these challenges:
