Welcome to the Fun Folds Blog Hop with Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators!!
Hi, Stampers! We have a great blog hop of fun fold crafters today so I know you will enjoy the inspiration this month. There’s a lineup below to make it easy for you to hop along and see all of the great inspiration from other creative SU demonstrators. So, today I have one of my favorite fun folds, called the Double Flap, to showcase how easy you can use your beautiful designer papers. Firstly, I chose the new – and absolutely gorgeous – Splendid Autumn designer paper. Then, I paired it up with a cute new stamp set in the annual catalog, Hooray for Surprises, which I find myself reaching for again and again.
My Secrets!
Let’s start with the card base…
- Firstly, this A2 card started with cardstock, cut to 5-1/2 x 7 and scored at 2-3/4.
- Then, I cut cardstock for the flap to 4 x 4 and scored one side at 1/2 to anchor it to the card base.
- Panel:
- Front Left: DSP #1: 2-3/4 x 5-1/4
- Inside Left: DSP #2: 2-3/4 x 5-1/4
- Front Flap: Cardstock: 3-1/4 x 3-3/4, DSP #2: 3-1/8 x 3-5/8
- Inside Flap: DSP #1: 3-3/4 x 3-1/4
- Personal Message Cardstock: 3-7/8 x 5-1/4
- So, I cut out all of the cardstock and designer papers. The only secret I have for you is to make sure you add the flap cardstock to the inside of the card before you add the cardstock for the personal message.
Now, the FUN Part!
- Once that was done, it was quick and easy to finish this card. Firstly, I stamped the sentiment from Hooray for Surprises in Garden Green ink. Then, I stamped the flower in Gorgeous Grape ink twice using the second generation ink (stamped off onto scrap paper). Once that was done, I stamped the flower again and fussy cut it out so I could layer it onto one of the flowers. I cropped out some leaves out (they were in my stash box so I am not sure where they came from) after blending some ink onto cardstock. After that, I cut out the sentiment and flowers with the Nested Essential die and layered the flower and leaves and popped it up onto the flap with dimensionals.
- Once that was done, I decided to add a little life to the card front with the butterfly from Sketched Butterflies, inked up with Gorgeous Grape ink and blending the ink out with a blending pen.
Then, on the inside…
- So, the inside of the card is very fast and easy. Firstly, using the butterflies dies, I cut white cardstock to make it pop.
- After that, I stamped the “You’re the BEST” with Gorgeous Grape ink and cropped it out with the Nested Essentials die.
- Finally, I finished the inside with Glossy Dots for the butterflies and Brass Butterflies on the pretty paper and sentiment.
