TWO Birthday Cards with Splendid Autumn Designer Paper

Hi, Stampers!

I made two birthday cards recently and wanted to share them with you before Autumn slipped away. Isn’t that a sad thought since it just got here? The only thing these two cards have in common is the gorgeous Splendid Autumn designer paper, and I truly love both. This paper has been in and out of stock so if you have been contemplating adding it to an order, I suggest purchasing it now. I just bought a second one because I love it so much!

If you want to see more Autumn birthday projects, my cards are part of Mary Fish’s inspiration post, which you can see HERE.

My Secrets!

Card #1

Create this card using Splendid Autumn Paper by Stampin' Up! and Debbie Mageed at Secrets To Stamping

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, the card base started with cardstock, cut at 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 and scored at 4-1/4.
  • Panel Measurements:
    • Cardstock: 1-1/4 x 4 (2) and 3 x 4
    • DSP: 1-1/8 x 3-7/8 (2) and 2-7/8 x 3-7/8 (cut DSP from left panel to right panel so you can pieces them together onto the card base)
  • Once that was done, I glued the panels together. Then, I glued the left panel on first, next the right panel and finally popped the middle panel up with dimensionals.
  • After that, I stamped the sentiment from Sweetly Scripted stamp set, cut it down to 5-1/4 x 3/4 and layered it onto Early Espresso cardstock, cut to 7/8 x 5-3/8. Then, I put dimensionals onto the end of the panel and liquid glue in the middle of the panel.
  • Once that was done, I cut out three of the flowers from the Cheerful Daisies dies and colored the centers with the Cajun Craze Stampin’ Blends markers. Then, they were glued onto the card base.
  • Finally, gold sequins were added to the card base.

And on the inside…

  • Once that was done, I cut cardstock to 4 x 5-1/4 and layered white cardstock on top.
  • I added a piece of the designer paper cut to 7/8 x 3-7/8, then stamped the sentiment from Encircled in Nature in Early Espresso ink. Finally, I add more gold sequins to finish the card with some sparkle.

  • Card Measurements:
    • Cardstock: 12 x 6, scored at 3 and 6.
  • Panel measurements:
    • Cardstock: 5-3/4 x 5-3/4 and DSP: 5-5/8 x 5-5/8
    • Cardstock: 2-3/4 x 5-3/4 and DSP: 2-5/8 x 5-5/8
    • Secret: I cut the front panel to match the back panel so that it looks like a continuous photo when the card is closed.
    • Personal Message Panel: Cardstock: 2-3/4 x 5-3/4 and Very Vanilla Cardstock: 2-5/8 x 5-5/8
  • After that, I stamped the sentiment from Heartfelt Hexagon stamp set and the wheat stamp from Autumn Expressions. Then, I glued all of the panels together and onto the card base.
  • Once that was done, I stamped the Happy Birthday from the Queen Bee stamp set and cropped it out with the Spotlight in Nature die, then cut Crushed Curry and Cajun Craze cardstock with the leaf wreath die, two of each color. Then, I glued them around the sentiment. After that, I stamped the little bee in Early Espresso ink, colored the flower with the retired Mango Melody Stampin’ Blends marker and cropped it out with the coordinating die. To give the wreath a bit of style and substance, I cut a piece of the Copper Clay Jute Trim, separated the strands and tied it into a pretty bow. Then, I cut out the bee die-cut in Early Espresso cardstock and the outline with vellum, and colored the body portion with the Mango Melody marker. Before gluing the wreath to the card base, I cut another circle from Early Espresso cardstock to give it a more finished look. (Secret: please make sure you only add glue/adhesive to the left half of the wreath)
  • Finally, I added Pecan Pie Ribboned Dots around the wreath.
