Whale Done Birthday Card for the Alphabet Challenge

Create this card using Whale Done by Stampin' Up! and Debbie Mageed at Secrets To Stamping

Hi, Stampers!

A new Alphabet Challenge starts today with the theme, “O is for Ocean Animals,” so I did a little digging in my retired stash and ultimately decided on the Whale Done stamp set. It’s such a cute one and love that there is a coordinating punch for the whale. Plus, there was also coordinating designer paper which I had totally forgot about but a little rooting in my retired paper for some water patterns helped me find it and this card was done before I knew it!

Once you finish here, I hope you visit our Alphabet Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, this square card started with black cardstock, 5-1/2 x 11 and scored at 5-1/2.
  • After that, I cut the Whale of a Time designer paper down to 5-1/4 x 5-1/4.

And now, the fun part!

  • Then, the designer paper had whales that I punched out with the coordinating punch. One whale was glued to card base, then the second one was popped up with dimensionals.
  • Once that was done, I stamped the Whale Done sentiment with Pretty Peacock ink and cropped it out with the Countryside Corner die.

Then, on the inside…

  • So, for the inside of the card, I cut the same DSP to the same dimensions as the card front and adhered it to the card base.
  • I stamped the Whale Done sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink and added a stamped whale in black ink. Then, I punched it out with the Whale punch.
  • This card turned out so cute and will add it to my stash of cards for my grandson.

I hope to share my card with these challenges:
