Stampin’ Up! Autumn Expressions Card for Creative Creases #95

It’s time for a new Creative Creases challenge. Firstly, thanks to all those who participated in the last challenge! If you haven’t played in the challenge yet, I hope I can inspire you to join the challenge that’s starting today! I am always on the lookout for new fun folds, but I am not a big fan of irregular shapes. This card is a big deal to me; it’s a Double Angle Gatefold, so I had to put that anxiety in my craft closet and just go for it! I combined Autumn Expressions with Thoughtful Wishes and Wildflowers Designs for an elegant card.

My Card Today

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, I had made this fun fold before so I was able to tweak it a bit to make it better.
  • The card base is 5-1/2 x 11 and scored at 3-3/8 and 7-5/8.
  • After that, I measured 1″ down from the left and right corners (top) and cut from the score lines to the 1″ mark on both sides.
  • Once that was done, I measured 1″ along the left and right corners (bottom) and cut from the top corner down to the 1″ mark at the bottom.
  • DSP: 3-1/8 x 5-1/4 (4)
  • I followed the same process to cut down the DSP, making sure that I cut them for both the right and left sides.
  • Inside DSP for the center: 4 x 5-1/4

Now, the FUN part!

  • OK, that wasn’t as bad as I feared!! Onto making this card pretty…
  • This fun fold is designed to be displayed so I left the outside of the gatefold alone. With my first card, I didn’t do anything with the inside, but this time I wanted to add more detail to the inside. So, after the DSP was added, I stamped the images from Thoughtful Wishes and Wildflower Designs. Then, I colored them with the Misty Moonlight and Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends. Once that was done, I adhered them to the card base.
  • Finally, I stamped the Grateful for You sentiment from the Autumn Expressions stamp set in Misty Moonlight ink and cropped it out with the Spotlight in Nature Circle die.

Then, onto the belly band…

  • I didn’t do a belly band with my first card, so I thought it would be fun to do one with this card. Firstly, I started by cutting the beautiful die from Thoughtful Wishes die collection with white cardstock. Then, I cut out the circle die with Misty Moonlight cardstock and adhered the die.
  • Once that was done, I cut out another leaf spray with the Crumb Cake Wildly Flowering DSP. I added a bit of liquid glue to the spaces where the new pieces would be, then gently laid the leaf piece over the white one and poked the pieces through. Cute, eh?
  • After that, I stamped the “You make life better” sentiment onto the same DSP and cut it out with Greetings of the Season die. I cut another one of those shapes with white cardstock, adhered them together, then made a double bow with white baker’s twine.
  • I attached it to a piece of white cardstock, 1-1/2 x 8, wrapped it around the card, and placed the ends under the centerpiece.
  • Finally, I popped the sentiment up onto the belly band, and added some pretty sparkle.

I hope to submit this card to the following challenges:

Oh, how I miss this little guy! He’s back in Michigan again while his parents are taking a short vacation. Sharing is so hard! But he will be back here next week and I can’t wait to give him a big hug and kiss, which he just laughs at when he wipes it off!

  3. Wow – I love the variation of this gate-fold – that diagonal edge is beautiful! And especially so with the DSP and die cuts you’ve used for decorating! 🙂

  4. Gorgeous! Love the colors, and I cannot believe this gave YOU anxiety! ( i get anxious looking at multiple score lines, lol) This looks like a great use of all of my lovely DSP, so thanks for great directions.
