It’s time for a new Creative Creases challenge! Firstly, thanks to all those who participated in the last challenge! If you haven’t played in the challenge yet, I hope I can inspire you to join the challenge that’s starting today! I have been wanting bookmarks a lot lately! They come in handy for so many reasons, so, of course, I set out to make a few. My search found some great bookmark cards, so I decided to try one from Connie Stewart. Since I love the Regal Winter designer paper, I used that. This fun fold is a great card to try, especially this time of year when you are looking for unique gifts.
Once you’re finished here, check out the current Creative Creases challenge; just click the button below!
My Cards Today
My Secrets!
Let’s start with the card base…
- Since both bookmark cards use the same exact card base, I will only give it to you once. Then, you can use it with any of the products you have.
- I used the Connie Stewart’s inspiration HERE but made some minor changes for my cards.
- Firstly, I cut my cardstock to 5-1/2 x 11 and scored it at 2-1/2 and 6-3/4. Then, I cut it down the end from the score line to 2-1/4″ down the edge to create the pocket.
- DSP #1: 4 x 5-1/4
- DSP #2: 2-1/8 x 5-1/8, then I dry embossed it with the new Forever Plaid embossing folder.
- Bookmark: After that, I cut cardstock the same color as the card base to 5-1/2 x 1-1/2 and DSP cut to 5-1/4 x 1-1/4.
Early Espresso Card
- So, the focal point started by stamping the sentiment from Something Fancy stamp set in Early Espresso ink and cropped it out with the Unbounded Love die. Then, I used another die to glue over it for even more detail. After that, I cut out Early Espresso cardstock with the Nested Essentials die. Once I had popped it up onto the card base (left side only) and glue to the right side, I added the sentiment. I thought it needed a little more detail, so I cut out the leaves (from DSP) and branches (Early Espresso) from the Autumn Leaves dies. Then, they were glued to the focal image with gold sequins for some sparkle.
- Then, using the Keeping Tabs bundle, I added the “Grateful for you” sentiment from Beside Me (leaving off the “all year long” by covering it with clear tape while inking the sentiment). Then, it was glued to the bookmark, adding the ribbon and sequins on the top.
- Inside: Wild Wheat cardstock cut to 5-1/4 x 4, DSP cut to 5-1/8 x 3-7/8, then Very Vanilla cardstock cut with the Deckled Rectangle die. After that, I added the sentiment from the Regal Flora stamp set in Early Espresso ink and the leaves from Regal Flora in Wild Wheat ink.
Then, onto the Very Vanilla Card
- So, to complete this card, I cut out the “you’re too kind” from the Wanted to Say dies in Wild Wheat cardstock. Then, I cut the Nested Essential frame die (I cut it twice) and glued the sentiment. After that, I tied them together with teh Rustic Striped Ribbon that I cut down the middle and glued the right side to the card base and popped up the left side to keep it level on the card front.
- Once that was done, using the Keeping Tabs bundle, I added the sentiment and image to the bookmark and added more ribbon to the top.
- Finally, to add some life to the card, I cut out leaves from Changing Leaves dies.
- Inside: I cut the DSP to 5-1/4 x 4. Then, I added the Very Vanilla cardstock cut from the Deckled Rectangle die after stamping the leaves to the bottom.
I hope to submit this card to the following challenges:

Oh, how I loved being with my son, daughter-in-law and my Noah last weekend! We enjoyed eating a great dinner at a popular Middle Eastern restaurant here in Chicago. Has anyone gone to Al Badawi Restaurant? I loved the food and the company!
Oh my goodness, you’ve done it again. You have used the DSP I was luke-warm about and made it special. Then there’s the fold…. Beautiful! Thank you for continuing to inspire me with your gorgeous creations and sharing photos of Noah.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Like it a lot
Those cards and bookmarks are a great idea for my new book club peeps! What are your favorite dishes at that restaurant? If I lived there I sure would try it… and we have a great local place (2 miles away) that you could try if you are ever here!
BEAUTIFUL pair of cards! Love the fold – and that a bookmark goes with! And those leaves are all just gorgeous in Wild Wheat!! 🙂
Debbie, you’re truly a card artist! I love both, just perfect. I’m happy to hear you had a nice bit of family time, Noah is growing so quickly! Thanks for joining in and sharing at The Paper Funday Challenge.
