Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!
Hi, Stampers!
This month’s theme is Winter Wonderland. We hope to inspire you with our creations today! The lineup is at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal. I am so happy you’re here because I have not one, not two but THREE projects for you, using the Snowy Wonder bundle and coordinating Snowy Scenes designer paper. Since I live in Chicago, winter will be here for the next few months, so luckily I am not too unhappy about snow. The first project using the Snowy Wonder bundle showcases the pretty Snowy Scenes DSP. After that, I made a pillar card that’s soft and cute with penguins and the last project makes a fun gift card that you can fill with whatever you’d like.
My Secrets!
#1 Snowy Wonder Triptych Card
- Firstly, I made an autumn card, using these measurements and you can see that card HERE
- Following that card’s measurements, this A2 card started with 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 cardstock that was scored at 4-1/4.
- White cardstock layer: 4 x 5-1/4
- Panels:
- Cardstock: 3-7/8 x 1-5/8 (3)
- DSP: 3-3/4 x 1-1/2 (3) – If you use a landscape DSP, make sure you cut the landscape from one end to the other
- Once all of my papers were cut, I adhered them together with liquid glue.
- After that, I began decorating the card front with elements from the designer paper and the coordinating sticker sheet. The sentiment is a sticker so all I had to do was adhere it to the Garden Green cardstock, cut to 5 x 1. Then, all I had to do was fussy cut the tree and use the die to cut out the snowman, which I “dressed” with a top hat and scarf from the designer paper.
- Finally, I added a few of the snowflakes that I layered together for a little dimension.
Card #2 Snowy Wonder Pillar Card
- I love an easy fun fold card and this one definitely fits that description! Since it makes a great card to display during the holiday season, you should really make one of these for a special someone in your life.
- Firstly, the card measurements are easy. Cut one piece of white cardstock into 4 equal pieces: one will be the card base and two will be used for the pillars, scored at 1, 2, 3, 4. Once that is done, fold and burnish all of the score lines and adhere together (I used tear ‘n’ tape).
- After that, I cut the designer paper for the card base to 5-1/4 x 4 and adhered to the card base.
- Then, I cut cardstock to 5-1/4 x 3/4 (2) and I used a sticker that was cut to 5″ (2) but you can use designer paper as well, of course.
- Before I adhered the pillar panels to the pillars, I added a piece of window sheet, cut to 5-1/2 x 4-1/4. (NOTE: this is unfortunately not the right size, so the card won’t fold totally flat. Next time, I will make the window sheet a little smaller since it is hidden by the panels.
- Another note: decorate the middle section of the card before you add the window sheet. It makes it easier if you aren’t blocked by that layer.
- So, to decorate the middle section, I stamped the sentiment from Christmas Labels stamp set and lightly colored the letter with the Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends. Then, I cut it out with the die from Unbounded Love collection and layered it with the other coordinating die.
- I cut out three penguins from the Snowy Scenes designer paper with the coordinating die and fussy cut hats to keep their little heads warm. I also stamped a candy cane and colored it with Poppy Parade and Petal Pink. Then, I added a few snowflakes for some sparkle.
- On the back, I cut Petal Pink cardstock to 4 x 5-1/4 and layered white cardstock on top. After that, I stamped the Snowy Wonder sentiment, snowflakes and the cute little penguin.
#3 Snowy Wonder Book Treat Box
- I hope you got these Book Treat Boxes for your stash because they are so adorable and super easy to decorate.
- The front was decorated with Snowy Wonder DSP, cut to 3 x 4 for the front and back and 1 x 4 for the binder. (Note: make sure that you choose a paper that is non-directional! It’s easy to forget that the opening to the treat box is on the right.) After I glued those on, I used scissors to round the corners.
- Once that was done, I stamped the cute house with Garden Green ink and colored the edge of the windows with Lemon Lolly Stampin’ Blend.
- I stamped the sentiment in Lost Lagoon ink and the snowflakes with Pool Party ink, then I cropped it out with the Greetings of the Season die and popped the house up with dimensionals. Finally, I colored one of the sweet snowflakes with Pool Party Stampin’ Blends.
- After I popped up the sentiment with dimensionals, I decided to cut down the little tab that holds the lid down to almost a 1/2″. Personally, I like this better than using magnets or velcro, but you can do whatever suits you.
