Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!
Hi, Stampers!
This month’s theme is “The Language of Love.” We hope our creations inspire you! The lineup at the end of my post will help guide you to all the Pals participating today. Isn’t this a great theme? After all, love for my family and friends is one of the biggest reasons I got into making cards in the first place. When I saw a fun shadow box pop-up card tutorial, I immediately thought of the adorable Otterly Amazing bundle with the perfect designer paper. This fun fold is so much fun to make and otters are the cutest critters ever!

My Secrets!
Let’s start with the card base…
- Firstly, it was this tutorial by Sam at Mixed Up Crafts that I used to create this card.
- Card Base #1: 8-1/4 x 8-/4 and scored at 4-1/8.
- Card Base #2/Shadow Box: 8 x 8-1/2: On the 8-1/2 side, I scored it at 1/2, 1-1/2, 4-1/4 and 5-1/2
- DSP layers:
- Shadow Box Panels: 7-7/8 x 2-7/8 and 7-7/8 x 7/8 for the top of the shadow box (optional)
- Window Sheet: 7-7/8 x 2-7/8 to add support to the shadow box opening
- Bottom Panel: 8 x 3
- Front Panel: 8 x 3-7/8
And now, the fun part!
- Once that was done, I adhered all of the panels to the card bases, then attached the shadow box with the opening to the back.
- After that, I made a pop-up with a piece of cardstock, cut to 1 x 2, and scored it at 1/2, 1, and 1-1/2. I attached to the inside of the shadow box, then added the otter image that I fussy cut from the designer paper.
- I cut a piece of window sheet to the size of the front of the shadow box and adhered it to the inside so that the shadow box had a bit more support.
- The baby otter and large boulder were fussy cut from the designer paper. Then, I scribbled with Old Olive Stampin Blends markers and cut the tall leaves. They were glued down to the right side of the shadow box window with the baby otter and boulder over them.
- The two cute otters on the bottom panel were fussy cut from the designer paper. After that, I stamped the sentiment in Pecan Pie ink and cut it out with the Countryside Corners die. I cut out a second one in Pecan Pie cardstock, cut it in half and layered the sentiment panel on top before gluing it and the otters to the bottom of the card.

Then, on the card front…
- The front of the card is ordinarily the star of the card, but not this time! So, I just cut more designer paper to 3-7/8 x 8 and adhered it to the card front.
- After that, I stamped the sentiment from Hooray for Surprises in Pecan Pie ink and cropped it out with the Something Fancy die and layered it over the bigger die in Pecan Pie cardstock. Once that was done, I popped it up with dimensionals.
- Finally, I added a double bow that was made with the Lost Lagoon Soft Cording.
