Stampin’ Up! Sketched Butterflies Card for the Inspiration Station Challenge

Create this card using Sketched Butterflies by Stampin' Up! and Debbie Mageed at Secrets To Stamping

Hi, Stampers!

A new Inspiration Station Challenge starts today and I used this month’s photo for the inspiration for my card. I love butterflies and often make them a part of my projects. Instead of using the new butterfly dies in my collection, I inked up the Sketched Butterflies bundle to give it another go. I paired it with the beautiful Thoughtful Journey designer paper and the Mixed Labels dies to make the sentiment stand out. I really love the detail on the frame!

Once you finish here, I hope you visit our Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • This A2 card started with cardstock, cut to 11 x 4-1/4 and scored at 5-1/2.
  • After that, I cut cardstock to 5-1/4 x 4 and layered the designer paper on top, cut to 5-1/8 x 3-7/8.

And now, the fun part!

  • Once that was done, I stamped the three Sketched Butterflies images and colored them with Stampin’ Blends (colors are listed below). Then, I cut the two larger butterflies with their coordinating dies and fussy cut the smallest one.
  • Then, I stamped the Sketched Butterflies sentiment and cut it out with the Mixed Labels frame die.
  • After that, I cut out the banner with black cardstock and layered it with the sentiment on top of the card base.
  • Finally, I colored the Pearls with the black Stampin’ Blends and added them to the butterflies.

Then, on the inside…

  • So, for the inside of the card, I cut another panel of black cardstock and layered white cardstock on top.
  • After that, I used a Stampin’ Blending Brush with sponge Peach Pie ink to the middle of the panel.
  • Then, I stamped the So Sincere sentiment to the panel in black ink.
  • Once that was done, I added the butterflies, which I had stamped extras of. I added another pearl to the largest butterfly.
  • Lastly, I adhered a strip of the designer paper I had left over to the bottom of the panel.

We had Noah over the weekend and he brought a fun little science kit with him. He couldn’t wait to do it and wear the safety glasses. Well, that kept him busy for about an hour but “now what can we do, Oma?”

  1. No doubt he will be an engineer or scientist one day! I think Noah would make an excellent card maker. He would have a fantastic teacher! I rarely use peach pie but I love it with the black on your creation…it’s a butterfly beauty!!! Have a blessed day, my friend.
