Stampin’ Up! Happy Hibiscus Card for the Creative Crafters Challenge

Create this card using Happy Hibiscus bundle by Stampin' Up! and Debbie Mageed at SecretsToStamping

Hi, Stampers!

A new Creative Crafters Challenge kicks off today, and with warm weather finally creeping into Chicago, I knew it was time to play with the Happy Hibiscus bundle! Hibiscus flowers always remind me of two places I’ve traveled to—Hawai’i and Egypt. There’s just something about their bold, tropical beauty that transports me right back to those magical moments.

Once you finish here, I hope you visit our Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, this A2 card started with cardstock, cut to 11 x 4-1/4 and scored at 5-1/2.
  • After that, I cut the Two-Tone cardstock (presently obsessed with this paper!) to 5-1/8 x 3-7/8 and dry embossed it in the Happy Hibiscus embossing folder. Then, I sanded it to expose the white core middle of the cardstock. This technique is so easy and a fast way to add more texture to your cards!
  • Once that was done, I mounted it on white cardstock, cut to 5-1/4 x 4.

And now, the fun part!

  • So, onto the gorgeous Happy Hibiscus flowers! Firstly, I stamped the image that has three flowers in Cherry Cobbler ink. After that, I used Daffodil Delight and Pretty in Pink inks to sponge on color with Blending Brushes.
  • The dies to cut out the flowers will “click” into place inside the embossing folder and all I had to remember is to make sure that the cutting edge of the die is facing the stamped image. It’s not hard at all to line up the stamped image with the embossing folder, then ran it through the die cutting machine.
  • After that, I dry embossed Pretty in Pink Two Tone paper in the Exposed Brick embossing folder and cut it out with the large circle die in the Stylish Shapes die collection.
  • Then, I stamped the sentiment from the So Sincere stamp set in black ink and cut it out with the Greetings of the Season die collection.
  • As you can see, I love dimension! So, everything on the card front was popped up with dimensionals. Plus, I added linen thread underneath the sentiment and Faux Glass Dots for a touch of sparkle.
