Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!

Hi, Stampers!
This month’s theme is “Birthday Celebrations.” The Pals hope to inspire you with card ideas and paper craft creations using Stampin’ Up! products. Links to the participant’s blogs can be found at the end of each post to help you “hop” along! I recently tried this new technique, and let me tell you—I love it! Playing with layers and textures is my happy place, so making these Fault Line cards was such a treat. The first one I made features the Delightful Wishes bundle, paired with the stunning Floral & Gingham Vellum and Old Olive Two-Tone cardstock—which, by the way, is perfect for distressing! Then, I went in an entirely different direction with the second card, using the Beautiful Butterflies bundle with the Country Woods and Wildly Flowering designer papers.

My Secrets!
Let’s start with the card base…
- Firstly, this A2 card started with cardstock, cut to 11 x 4-1/4 and scored at 5-1/2.
- Panels needed for the Fault Lines technique:
- 4 x 4 piece of designer paper
- 4 x 2-3/4 of contrasting paper x 2 (can be whatever you want!)
- white cardstock cut to 5-1/4 x 4 (above panels are glued to this panel before adhering to the card base)
And now, the fun part!
- The fun part of this card is the fault line technique for the background and you can watch this video by Lisa Freeman if you want to see it created.
- Once I had all of the pieces together, I adhered the 4 x 4 designer paper to the white cardstock, leaving a gap at the top and bottom.
- I took the two pieces of paper (can be cardstock or DSP or a combination of both) and carefully started ripping them horizontally from about 1″ from the top and diagonally to the opposite corner, keeping the two pieces together so that the ripped edges are as similar as you can get them.
- I took the Old Olive Two-Tone cardstock pieces and ran them through the embossing folder, then sanded the embossed areas to expose the white core color.
- Then, I took all four pieces and started gently curling/distressing the edges. Once that was done, I laid the two pieces together for the top, overlapping them a bit to expose the Lemon Lolly cardstock layer and glued them together. I did the same for the two bottom pieces, then both panels were glued to the white cardstock panel.
- After that, I cut out the two flowers and two leaves from the Delightful Wishes dies and glued them together. Then, I adhered them to the top of the card front with dimensionals.
- Next, I cut out the “wishing” die with Daffodil Delight and white cardstock, glued them together. Secret: I glued the Daffodil Delight “wishing” to the white one while it was still in the die. That way I was able to gently poke through the holes to push it where I wanted it to go and keep it straight.
- Finally, I stamped the “you a happy birthday” sentiment in Old Olive ink and cropped it out with the banner die. Then, it was popped up with mini dimensionals.

Then, onto a second card…
- I won’t go into too much detail for this card because it was made exactly the same way, but I used the Wildly Flowering and Country Woods designer papers for the card front.
- Once that was all done, I decided to add the large butterfly, which was stamped in Night of Navy ink onto more designer paper. After that, I cropped it out with the coordinating die.
- I stamped the flower from Wildflower Designs in Pecan Pie ink and cropped it out.
- Then, I stamped the sentiment from Wildflower Designs in Misty Moonlight ink and cropped it out with the banner die in the Beautiful Butterflies dies.
- Finally I aded the Opal Rounds to the body of the butterfly for a bit of sparkle.

We’re almost halfway through Ramadan, and while fasting means waiting for iftar (our meal after sunset), that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy our favorite foods. Noah may be too young to fast, but he’s definitely old enough to have fun in the kitchen. Look at those Professional level meatballs! There’s something special about making food together, especially during this holy month.
Debbie, I love the distressing you’ve done. The Two-Tone is perfect! Both cards are absolutely beautiful.
